Nami is a late night host and lately the show has lost
a lot of viewers. One day, Nami receives an anonymous package
containing a videotape. The videotape shows a woman getting
brutally killed and the direction on how to get to the building
where the video was made. Nami decides to bring her team to
investigate the case. After a long way of driving they finally
arrive at the scene, but it doesn't take long before the team
start disappearing one by one.

Evil Dead Trap used to be one of my favourite gore movies and
it still has some sentimental value but I can't say that I
enjoyed it quite as much today as I did three years ago. Back
then I would probably have given it five stars. This is basically
a US slasher japanised. When I say japanised I mean that they
have taken a slashermovie, thrown in some soft-core porno scene,
a rape scene and a disastrous ending. They must have forgotten
to throw some other things in though as it is packed with plot
holes, for example, there's this one scene where two persons
fall through a hole in the floor and end up on the roof of a
completely different building. Explain that if you can.

As usual for foreign movies I have a hard time judging whether
the acting is good or bad, it doesn't really matter if you
use good or bad actors for us people who don't speak any Asian
language. The directing is a different story though, this is
one of the most interesting things about the movie actually.
There are many eerie and creepy camera effects which I've never
witnessed in a horrormovie before. For example, there's this
one scene where it's pitch black and the killer uses a camera
flash to show us what's going on, very creepy stuff. There are
also a couple of scenes where the camera moves quickly forward
while the picture is black and white which are just brilliantly shot.

It's really a shame that it's so tastelessly ruined with sex
and gore for it's really a good movie. You do need to turn the
TV off when this movie hits the hour mark though as it goes
outrageously bad after that but I still think this is a terrific
slasher. If the ending would have been different I still might
have reached as far as giving this five stars but I just couldn’t
bare it, it doesn't deserve a better grade than what I have
given it. This will always be an old favourite of mine though.

This is some indiscrete stuff. We get an eye piercing with a
knife, which is very graphical, some gory knife action is also
a main ingredience in this slasher. We also get a dismembered
head and a very gory impalement involving a couple of spears.

The main theme is quite similar to the Halloween theme but
what I didn't notice the first time I watched it is that there
are actually two themes in this movie and both are quite
similar to eachother. The soundtrack basically only consists
of those two melodies though played with different instruments,
but it works as they are both eerie and atmospheric melodies.

Not for the weak stomached. It's a bit like Halloween mixed
with Guinea Pig: Flowers Of Flesh & Blood. If you want a gory
slasher, this is definitely what you want. I will probably
always consider this to be a great movie even if it does have
lots of flaws and plot holes. It succeeds to deliver gore and
suspense and however stupid it may sound, that's sometimes
all you need to be able to enjoy a movie.
