Emi is a news reporter and she seems to be having a breakthrough
lately since a mad serial killer is on the loose. What she
doesn't know is that her closest friend is the one responsible
for all the recent murders. As things develop, Emi's friend
decides to seek help from a spiritualist to remove the evil
spirit from her body. But everything doesn't work out quite
as she planned.

Evil Dead Trap 2 is an independent sequel to its predecessor
since it basically has nothing to do with the first movie.
Personally I thought that the first movie was excellent and
when I heard that there was a sequel out, I just had to see
it. To my disappointment this wasn't nearly as good. The movie
is slow and uninteresting, there is nothing that really makes
you want to watch the following 5 minutes of it and it's hard
to get through the entire movie without wanting to fast forward.
When I saw this I was thinking, this looks a lot like the
Guinea Pig movies, only with a story. Well, the director was
apparently also responsible for the unofficial sequel to the
Guinea Pig series called Lucky Sky Diamond. I think it looks
pretty amateurish compared to the first one. Toshihary Ikeda,
who directed the original Evil Dead Trap movie was clearly a
much better director even though he has no other famous movies
on his name and I think that if he had returned, the quality
of this movie would have been much better.
None of the original cast re-appear in this sequel. I guess
no one with a good title on their names would want to appear
in this movie after reading the script. What bothered me even
more was the fact that they seemed to lost control over the
movie after 1 hour and 20 minutes since they decided to have
two girls screaming and chasing eachother for the last 15 or
20 minutes. Well, this wasn't very thought-through obviously
and there's a reason why this never became the big success
that it's predecessor became.

This is pretty gory stuff actually, one gets the arm broken
in a way that the bone breaks and sticks right out of the arm.
One gets a leg dismembered and there's even some gut munching.
The goriest thing was probably when one got the hand cut off
though. Very gruesome, well not compared to the original.

The main theme for this movie is absolutely beautiful, too bad
the rest of the soundtrack isn't quite as good. The rattling
guitars are frustrating and annoying, not to talk about the
weird drums that are so not in pace with the movie.

Terrible follow-up to a brilliant movie. Very unnecessary
sequel and I can only recommend this for gore hounds out there
who don't mind reading subtitles as I can't find anything
else about this that would attract anyone. It's just a waste
of movie really and the only reason I give this one star at
all is because there is a fair amount of gore and I loved
the main theme (be aware that the soundtrack plays a big part
when I review movies).
