A woman tries to commit suicide after her boyfriend
dumped her by taking pills but fails and is taken to
the hospital. There she finds out that she is
pregnant with her ex-boyfriends baby. What she doesn't
find out is that she's now also got the ability to see
ghosts. At first she doesn't react a lot to the strange
people that she's seeing everywhere, often near babies
or pregnant women but after a while she starts wondering
if this is really normal. How come no one else can see
these strange, pale people, and what do they want her?

What a disappointment. The sequel for one of the best
horrormovies ever made, if not the best, really wasn't
a worthy one. The first ten minutes of the movie got
me all excited, it seemed very promising, with good
music and lots of jumps. With time I realised that
this was the only thing that this movie was going to
deliver. You see, there's no real story in the movie,
well, at least not a very good or strong one. It's
just a movie about a pregnant women seeing ghosts really.
The soundtrack and the numerous creepy scenes in the
movie is what keeps it alive. It's a shame cause the
scary scenes are really well done.
The Eye 2 looks better than its predecessor in every
way. The directing is much better and while the acting
was top-notch in The Eye, it's actually even better
in this sequel. The only bad thing about the movie is
really the movie itself. There's no real connection
between the two movies except the name though and the
fact that there's a woman who can see ghosts. Well,
there is one scene that seems almost taken out of the
first movie. There's a scene in The Eye where there's
a woman saying "Why are you sitting by my desk?" and
then she repeats it but louder and more aggressively.
This scene can also be found in The Eye 2, the only
real difference is that this time two dead bodies fall
from the sky afterwards.
There are even scenes in the movie which are supposed
to be scary but instead of screaming you can't help
yourself from laughing. For example, there's this one
scene where the woman is sitting next to a ghost in a
cab, and every time the woman looks at the ghost, the
ghost sits in a different way. Believe me, it's a lot
funnier than it sounds. I still don't think that the bad
reputation that this has gotten is fair though. It is a
scary movie and while it might not be a masterpiece as
the first one was, it's still pretty entertaining.
We all remember the movie trend when little Asian ghost
girls with long black hair used to scare the hell out
of us in the theatres, well, that trend still isn't dead.
But it seems as if there's a new ghost trend in Asia,
this time the children are a little younger, well, unborn
actually. I really don't like this idea very much.
Perhaps it was because the first movie I saw that used
this idea was the abysmal horrormovie "Unborn But
Forgotten", though I didn't really think it worked in
the new Thai horrormovie "The Mother" aka "The Unborn"
either. It's a shame that this is the third horrormovie
that uses this idea within just two years time in Asia
cause it feels like it's just another rip-off. Though,
The Eye 2 is the best of these three movies.
As you can see I'm not going to put down this movie
as much as it probably deserves. Why you ask. Because
the main reason to why I, among others, probably want
to put down this movie as much as possible is because
I was so disappointed. Solely because of its title.
If you think of it as a stand-alone horrormovie, it's
still better than most horrormovies that come out these
days. I'm going to stick with showing the original The
Eye to friends and such but with another title, maybe
this would be better known for being scary instead of
having a dead end story.

Hmm, do menstruations and internal bleedings count?
Thought so. Pretty dry, it's a ghost movie so what can
you expect. Oh, unless you're a fan of watching gooey
babies getting born. Yuck.

I think this is what saved the movie from going under.
The loud jump effects are excellent and so is the
score. I even dare to say that it was better than in
the original, and The Eye's score was brilliant.
Just after a minute we get impressed by the pop
music that fills the room, very flashy stuff. Then
we have the bongo drums from the first movie, only
with a little more power and depth in them this time.
And finally, for all you piano fans out there, there's
a lot of piano music in it aswell. Works great
for the movies atmosphere.

Disappointing? Yes. Terrible? No. This movie seems
to have one sole purpose, and that is to scare its
audience. It's not a movie for the intellectual type.
There isn't even much dialogue in here. The story
could be told in one minute and still manages to
last for 80 minutes (which still isn't very long
considering that The Eye was almost two hours long).
It's not a worthy sequel, I'll tell you that, but
it's still not as bad as many want to make it out to be.
