Jason Voorhees is presumed dead and brought to
the morgue where he - like always - wakes up for
another rampage. After dispatching the morgue
staff Jason returns to Crystal Lake where a
gang of teens are setting up a party camp while
a family is relaxing in the house next door.
Also setting up camp is the vengeful brother of
one of Jason's victims.
After two pretty decent first parts (that gained
points for their twisted, "Psycho"-influenced
climaxes) and a nice, solid third part (in 80s
traditional 3D) the series started to sink
downhill around this uninspired part of the
series, numero four to be exact.
With a pretty interesting premise, suggesting a
little more than the usual cast of teen fodder,
the film is ruined by a lousy script and some
bad acting. For example, the idea bringing in a
vengeful sibling to a Jason victim is great but
the character is sadly underwritten and E. Erich
Anderson's annoying attempts at acting makes on
yearn for Jason to finish him off as
soon as possible.
The family is cute though. Corey Feldman, in his
pre-drug days, is a likable child actor (more
known from "Goonies", "Stand By Me", etc.) and
Kimberly Beck OK but forgettable in blonde
heroine part. Unfortunately, most time is spent
on those damn kids (whose number expands in
each sequel). Like always their sole job is to
get drunk, get naked, have sex and die. The
murders come fast and quick. It's hard to keep
track on the long list of victims when you
barely get to know their names before they bite
the big one.
Except for Corey Feldman, you can also spot
Crispin Glover (Michael J. Fox's dad in "Back
to the Future" and Creepy Thin Man in "Charlie's
Angels") in an early role as one of the more
likable teens in the crowd. You almost expect
him to end up as the hero until Jason slams a
meat-cleaver in his face. So it's up to Corey
and big sis Kim to finish off old Jase in a
climax highlighted by Tom Savini's gory effects.
Those aren't enough though to make a good film
even if Savini knows his work and has created
both a gruesome Jason and nasty makeup.
Highest body count for a "Friday" film so far...
Murder weapons include surgical saws, knives,
harpoons, corkscrews, meat cleavers, hammers and
one big ax but goriest moment has Jason's head
hit by his own machete and then sliding down
on it towards the floor.
Harry Manfredini's usual score.
Uninspired sequel has interesting premise ruined
by lousy script and bad acting. Corey Feldman
and Crispin Glover are likable, and Tom Savini's
gory makeup effects a highlight, but it doesn't
make a good film.

 The best and funniest of the Friday the 13th's. Crispin Glover is awesome and I love the guy in the basement saying "he's killing me!" over and over. |

 This is definitely a five star slasher. Mr. Slicer-Dicer you obviously didn't watch the same movie I did. Horrible acting? Didn't you also give Kolobos a good rating? Whatever. You guys on this site keep on giving bad reviews to good movies. You ragged out Just Before Dawn and that is a classic slasher. Yet you'll give shit like these Japanese films good reviews. Oh boy. To make matters worse, you morons haven't even put on the great classic slasher Halloween. That's blasphemous. You guys have a right to your own opinion even if it's biased, 2nd grade rants that usually make NO sense at all. |

| A classic on it's own, i cant believe this got only one star! I really love this movie and the cast was great! So was the gore, but my favorite kill has to be the guy that gets a knife in the head, that was awesome! |
