"Another lousy Fear Itself episode to throw in the dumpster"

A man desperate for money thinks that he's gotten
his hands on a very valuable antiquity but the
meeting at the antiques shop doesn't go quite as he
had planned. Instead he ends up killing the shop
owner and soon his life starts to break down before
his eyes. How can he get out of this mess?

Wow, I could've sworn that was a full-length feature
film. Man was this a dud if I ever saw one. From
the director of the brilliant "Joy Ride" comes this
bizarre thriller episode where a man finds himself
becoming a serial killer over one night. Despite a
horrifyingly slow pace and a thin story, this episode
was still filled with flaws, plot holes and errors.
See, the man (I couldn't be bothered writing down
his name) sees his reflection in the mirror and all
of a sudden there are two of him... or are there?
I think Chance tries so hard to be clever that it
gets tangled up in its own riddles.

If you go to a horror film festival, you will most
likely find several outstanding horror shorts showing.
So why is it so freaking hard to make a decent one
for TV? No seriously, the scripts for these Fear
Itself episodes are for most of the time extremely
sloppy. Sure, they last 40 minutes but there's really
nothing happening during these 40 minutes. Perhaps
they're focusing on the wrong things, I don't know,
either way I did not enjoy Chance and I'm now more
convinced than ever that pulling this show off the
air was the best move that NBC has made in years. My
fear is that all of the remaining shows are this
dreadful since they probably aired all the decent
ones. Not that many of the previous episodes were
decent but at least we had a few glimpses of hope.

So I'm giving Chance the rating of 1/5 only because
it goes by so quickly. That's the only reason. Is
it just me or have I gone soft recently? I feel like
I'm being way too nice on all these hack-jobs of
films. Anyway, if you're upset that you don't have
the channel that's airing the remaining Fear Itself
episodes, don't be. Believe me, you're really better
off without them. If you do however have the channel
that's airing these episodes, be smart and zap to
another channel asap.

Nothing much.

Nothing special.

Another lousy Fear Itself episode to throw in the
dumpster. I truly hope that at least one of the
upcoming unaired episodes is decent because writing
reviews for these horror flicks with little to no
story really is a bitch. Avoid.
