Lynn is an artist and who paints evil clowns for
a living but when one night her fear becomes
reality her paintings seem pretty friendly all of
a sudden. It seems as if a killer dressed as a
clown is killing everyone Lynn knows targeting
her as his final victim. As if that wasn't enough,
she's in the middle of a divorce and her husband
is taking everything she's got from her, including
her beloved son. Will Lynn be able to wake up
from this nightmare or will the killer clown be
able to get her?

The first impression that I got from this film was
quite a while ago when a teaser trailer was thrown
up on the film's official homepage. The teaser
looked cool and it looked like it would be a
solid horror flick. The second thought that ran
through my head came approximately 6 months later
when the DVD arrived in my mailbox and I realized
"dear god! it's a killer clown flick which runs
for two hours!". As you might understand, this
made me quite sceptical but since I loved the King
movie It, I thought I'd give this a chance anyway.
Well I was right about one thing, the movie's
running time goes against it.
Fear Of Clowns doesn't have a very solid story and
the movie just goes on and on without that much
happening in it. You'd think that an independent
killer clown flick would be gory and have a high
body count, but it doesn't. Most of the killings
are actually off-screen. However, the running time
is probably the only thing that it's got against
it. The movie is pretty entertaining and at times
it can get very intense and suspenseful. The
writer was clever when he decided to split the
movie in two halves, where the first one is more
of a thriller where we get to meet and know the
characters in the movie and with the second part
being straight down slasher. I guess I don't
have to say which part I enjoyed the most.
Director Kevin Kangas previously directed the
movie Hunting Humans which has got the exact same
problem, it's too long and it doesn't seem to be
able to decide whether it wants to be horror or
action thriller. Though I can tell you that this
is still a step in the right direction. The
directing is pretty good for an independent film
and so is the acting, much better than in Hunting
Humans, despite the fact that many of the cast
members were in both movies. In the end of the
day I still consider myself to be pretty pleased
with the movie because even if it had a few
difficulties, I still really craved for a clown
slasher flick again and that's exactly what I
got... at least for half of the movie.

We get a decapitation with almost no bloodshed
at all, I'm telling you, this guys blood must
have coagulated very quickly. We also get a
dismembered head and arm which looks pretty fake
since the blood looks like ketchup mixed with
water and finally we get an impalement which is
actually the best kill in the entire movie in
my opinion, though I'm sure the director would
like to disagree with me on that.

Well, it's pretty much the same as in every
other horror movie except for the occasional
soft rock music. It works I guess but it could
have used a good main theme.

Not really what I had expected from watching
the teaser trailer. The teaser kind of gave me
the feeling that this would be a morbid and
creepy horror flick about clown paranoia but
instead I got a thriller/killer clown flick.
But hey, I'm not complaining. Maybe a bit too
long for my taste but if you're in for a killer
clown flick I see no reason to why you shouldn't
check this one out.
