A bunch of
people get trapped inside a bar with some
kind of carnivorous monsters trying to get in. No one
knows where the monsters came from, but they all know
that in order to stay alive, they have to fight. With
shot guns, machetes and scissors, everyone does their
best to pitch in, but will their team-spirit keep them
alive through the long, dark night, or will they all
end up being the next feast?

Feast has got to be the most over-hyped horror movie of
the year. Yes! it is indeed very gory and Yes! it is
definitely a crowd pleaser. But what most people seem
to have missed is that this is in fact a DTV movie
(with a very limited theatrical release of one weekend).
I'm sure that this was a whole lot more entertaining
for those who saw this at the cinema, but for me, who
watched it in my comfortable couch at home, it really
didn't feel all that special - and that's the way that
most people are going to see it.
As I said before, Feast is incredibly gory and the gore
scenes are to die for. Unfortunately, there's not a
whole lot of plot to be found between the amazing gore
scenes. The story basically revolves around a bunch of
random people who get stuck in a shitty bar in the
middle of the desert (where do all these people live
anyway?) when a couple of carnivorous monsters show
up for dinner. The entire movie takes place inside the
bar, and other than following these people trying to
find a way out of the bar, there's not a whole lot
more to it. Luckily, director John Gulager manages
to keep the pace up through most of the movie anyway.
Now, despite the fact that I might sound relatively
negative towards this movie, I actually did enjoy it.
I'm just trying to high-light the fact that it's
ridiculously over-hyped. John Gulager has done an
amazing job creating a great atmosphere and taking
unexpected turns. He does what we expect him to do,
and then goes in a completely different direction.
The acting is also surprisingly good and I loved the
way that all the characters were introduced. It's
difficult to really connect with any of them, but
I don't think that we were supposed to.
Overall, Feast is a great movie to watch with your
friends. There's almost always something going on
and if you miss five minutes because you're getting
yourself a beer or going to the toilet, you won't
really have missed anything since there's basically
no plot. It's gory, mildly cheesy and mindless fun.
Don't let all the extremely positive reviews fool you
though, it's not as great as many people make it out
to be - especially not if you watch it at home.

I don't really know where to start. The blood sprays
everywhere and we get decapitations, impalements,
dismembered legs, a face ripped off and a whole lot
more. It won't disappoint you here (but remember, I did
see the unrated version).

Eh, nothing special here, was never really in focus.
Some average suspense music here and there but nothing
really worth commenting on.

Ridiculously over-hyped monster flick, but still quite
entertaining. Feast will not disappoint in the gore
department but if you're heading in thinking that this
will have a great and complex story, you're wrong.
Definitely a movie that you should check out with your
friends though, but if you watch it alone, it won't
be in your mind for long.
