It's the final week of the semester and everyone is
studying for the final exams... everyone except the guys
from a fraternity who are keeping busy with making up
new pranks. What they didn't expect was that someone
was making up his own "pranks" for them, but this
someone is making up deadly pranks. As the tagline
goes, some may pass the test, god help the rest!

Maybe it was due to the fact that I had just sat through
two very dull slasher flicks but I really enjoyed this
unoriginal and very predictable slasher flick. The movie
revolves around a couple of students who still haven't
finished their final exams that soon come to realize that
a mad serial killer is on the loose. This is, as you can
tell, not original at all. In fact, this might be one
of the least original slasher films ever but it sure is
an entertaining one. The movie is very fast-paced and
even though very few of the characters are likeable, you
don't want them to die since every character adds something.

Final Exam is obviously one of those movies who hoped to
cash in on the success of Halloween since it borrows
many elements from the movie, even the soundtrack is
Halloween inspired. The directing is nothing special at
all but it's pretty standard for a slasher flick which,
in this case, is a good thing. A slasher flick like this
wouldn't profit of having fancy camerawork. The acting
isn't anything special and these are very unknown actors
but that just adds to the beauty of the movie.

I didn't really have high expectations when I started
to watch this flick but after the opening scene (which
is also cheesy and unoriginal), I knew that I was going
to enjoy this one. It's a movie which could only be
enjoyed by a true slasher fan since the story is weak
and there is nothing special about it at all. It just
has the right charm, and to my surprise there were also
a couple of creepy scenes in this flick. I will have
to recommend this slasher, even if it's not the best one
that I've seen.

One guy gets impaled on a knife, many victims also get
stabbed to death in a very non-gory way and that's pretty
much all we get in here.

The theme melody is obviously inspired by the theme from
Halloween but this isn't exactly a rare phenomenon for
80s slasher flicks. It works pretty well and the suspense
score creates a pretty good atmosphere.

Surprisingly entertaining slasher flick which isn't
nearly as bad as many people make it out to be. It's
relatively fast-paced and makes one and a half hour pass
by pretty quickly. It won't win any prizes for being
original but it's still a decent movie so I'm going to
go ahead and recommend this one, but only for slasher fans.
