Some forest rangers are going to the woods for a couple of days
and naturally they decide to bring some girls. Well everything
seems fine at first but after a while they realize that they're
not alone in they woods and in order to get away from the killer
they have to go river running. Well it will be the trip of their
lives, for those who still have one. One of the 80's backwoods
slashers that was forgotten after the 80's slasherwave had died.

This is actually not as bad as one might think. Actually I found
myself rather enjoying this. The movie opens with a couple driving
on a motorbike, but when they nearly drive into a couple of logs
blocking the road they have to make a quick turn which results in
the bike falling over the guys leg. His girlfriend runs in vein for
help and when she gets back, her boyfriend is missing. Well almost,
moments later he falls down from nowhere with a slit throat,
naturally the girl screams and starts to run but is stopped when
a couple of tinlids stuck on two branches kill her. Now that is
one death scene that I will never forget.

Andrew Davis, the director of Final Terror, has with time become a
well-known and respected director and has directed movies such as
Collateral Damage starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and the family
movie Holes. You can really tell that he has skills even in this
film. Some scenes are a bit too dark making it impossible for the
viewer to see what's going on every now and then but the camera is
always steady and there are many scenes that are beautifully shot.
The acting is everything from terrible to average. Nothing very
special but there are a few people in it that really shouldn't have
anything to do with movies at all.

So now for the bad stuff. Well first of all, there are too many
characters to focus on and there was no character development at
all. Now usually I wouldn't have any problems with this in a
slasher since they're all about to be offed soon anyway but the
thing is that very few people actually die in this movie. In fact
almost everyone survives and that was a bit of a disappointment.
Another thing disappointing about the ending was that it was a
big gasp really. Everything happened so sudden and then it was
just over like that. You'll see what I mean. Of all the 80's
backwoods slashers I've seen, this was one of the better ones.
I hope that this will see the light of a DVD release soon.

Not very messy. There are only a few killings and the ones that
are supposedly gory are shot in the night when it's impossible
to see what's going on. And still I saw the uncut dutch release.
Well from what I could tell we got to see a severed hand and a
couple of slit throats but that's basically it.

Now this was exactly how I had expected it to be. Some cheesy
80's pop music (gotta love the 80's) and some even cheesier
piano music. As you can tell, this created the perfect atmosphere
for an 80's backwoods slasher.

Better than one might make it out to be but still not a very
good movie as a horror movie. Too many characters and not
enough killings. With a couple of more murders and some
more gore (well, visible gore that is) this could probably
have been a whole lot better. Still I think this is worth
a rent if you haven't seen it yet.
