A bunch of
ravenous dinosaur-like birds that
carry an extreme mutation of the bird flu attack
a bunch of juvenile delinquents who are on a
trip to the woods. With nowhere to run, the
teens have to find a way to kill the birds
before they become the next meal.

Can you believe the amount of rubbish creature
features that are released these days? It is
getting ridiculous I tell you. Flu Bird Horror
(Jesus Christ, even the title is rubbish) kind
of had me excited at first. I mean, killer bird
flicks are always fun to a certain extent but
guess what? Apparently killer birds wasn't
exciting enough so instead we have a bunch of
flesh-eating, pre-historic pterodactyl-like
creatures flying about instead. Why Sci-Fi Channel,
why? Where did these mutated birds even come
from in the first place? Who mutated them? Why
have they got the bird flu? The entire movie
is so riddled with flaws that it's not even funny.
Luckily, the movie is so ridiculous that it's
occasionally quite amusing and due to a decent
pacing, it's quite watchable, especially since
it's a direct-to-TV flick (why is it that the
most awful of movies are easier to watch on TV
than on DVD?). So we have a group of unlikeable
juveniles as the main victims. They don't seem
to like each other very much, just like we,
the audience, couldn't care less about what
happens to them. In fact, I'm kind of disappointed
that so many of them ended up surviving. By
the way, how do we even know that they survived?
Didn't the virus become airborne? Ah, to hell
with logics, these guys didn't seem to care much
about plot holes or logics, they just wanted to
make a moderately entertaining horror flick to
fill an empty time slot and they've succeeded at
doing so, so I guess that's all that matters.
I wonder whether this was shot in Bulgaria or
not seeing as how some locations looked familiar
to the ones used in Anaconda 3. If so, I'm sure
that Rebekah Kochan (the awful actress who can
be found in many of The Asylum's productions)
was ecstatic to finally get to be in an
international production (hah!). Speaking of
Rebekah, she actually does a decent job in here,
I have to point that out seeing as how I usually
really dislike her. The directing is standard
for Sci-Fi channel productions and I guess the
budget was slightly above average as the movie
looks more expensive than many Sci-Fi originals.
In the end, Flu Bird Horror isn't very impressive,
it's another forgettable creature feature which
is somewhat entertaining while it lasts but a
movie which I doubt that anyone who caught this
on TV will buy on DVD. It's certainly not awful
but had the potential to be a bit better than this.
Worth checking out if you enjoyed Pterodactyl.

A severed leg, some guts, a body chopped in half.

Same old, same old.

Moderately entertaining but utterly ridiculous
creature feature about flesh-eating dinosaur-like
birds that really don't look all that scary.
Worth checking out if you have nothing better
to do but my guess is that most of you have
better things to do than watch a movie like Flu
Bird Horror on a Saturday night.
