A mysterious fog is approaching the small island,
Antonio Bay with an unusual speed. What's even
more unusual is that the fog is coming up against
the wind. At first it doesn't seem like anything
else but a very thick fog, but what the locals
on the small island doesn't know is that there
is something evil lurking inside the fog...

Since Hollywood has ran out of original ideas for
horror flicks and since slasher flicks don't
seem to work at the box-office any more, they've
basically decided to remake every single horror
flick that has got some kind of cult status and
cast a bunch of teen TV-actors in it. Now, I'll
be honest with you, I didn't think much of the
original The Fog movie, I mean it was an all
right time waster but it basically feels like
it's gotten it's cult status due to the fact that
scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis starred in it. So
when I found out that a remake was coming out,
I wasn't too thrilled - nor upset by the fact that
they had decided to remake it.
What surprised me about this remake was the fact
that it didn't really feel like a remake. Every
now and then there's one scene which we remember
from the original movie but this remake is just
filled with new subplots that didn't exist in
the original and still, the new subplots felt
incredibly unoriginal. It's obvious that they
were trying to blend certain factors from The
Ring into it and that kind of ruined the entire
movie. I mean, when I started watching it I was
actually really enjoying it for the first 30
minutes or so. It had some good scares and a very
creepy atmosphere going but when the subplots
kicked in, the movie just got lost in the fog.
As you might have understood, I didn't care much
for the casting in this flick. I mean, they all
do a decent job but it's impossible for me to
root for stupid teen actors from popular TV-shows
like "Lost" and "Smallville". And what the hell
is Selma Blair doing in a supporting role? She
did definitely not belong in this movie, it just
felt odd to me, she can do better than this.
The Fog is definitely a mainstream crowd-pleaser
though. It's just as bad as Boogeyman and White
Noise so there is no reason to why this shouldn't
become a hit among the teenyboppers. If you ask
me, I've had enough of these PG-13 movies. This
movie died due to bad casting, unoriginal and
dull subplots and a lack of gore (which this
movie so desperately needed). Even if the movie
looks visually great with awesome CGI-effects,
it still feels like a high budget TV-flick.

I know I'm not supposed to swear but FUCK PG-13!

The intense score works brilliantly and is the
best thing about this movie. We also get some
mainstream rock and hip hop music to keep the
teens pleased.

A remake which fails to capture the original story
and instead heads into dull and unoriginal new
subplots and stupid twists. Will please the teen
audience but for more serious horror fans, this
will fail badly. It does have potential but in
the end, it just feels like a high budget TV-film.
