A TV-crew heads down into some underground tunnels
where a boy has supposedly been hiding for ten
years. The boy is an heir of a big fortune and the
TV-crew's mission is to find out if he's still
alive. Meanwhile, a mental patient has escaped from
a nearby asylum and has targeted the TV-crew.

The Forgotten Wells is a forgotten Swedish slasher
flick from 1990 and has finally been released on
DVD a while back so naturally I had to check this
out. Unfortunately, this is a horror movie that
should have stayed forgotten. The first forty
minutes or so of the movie could vaguely be
described as a slasher flick but the rest of
the movie is a gun fighting battle between the
TV-crew and some bad guys who are hunting them
in the underground tunnels. It actually feels
more like an action movie than a horror movie
and there are simply too many bad guys to focus
on. First we have the masked killer who looks
very stupid, then we have the deranged boy living
in the tunnel system and finally we have the bad
cops who are hunting the team. It's just too much.

Director Mats Helge is also responsible for the
1985 Swedish horror flick "Blood Tracks" which
also is a complete mess. Both "Blood Tracks"
and "The Forgotten Wells" are shot in English
though which is appreciated. The entire cast
speaks rather good English actually and if
I didn't know that the movie was Swedish,
I would probably never have guessed that it
was from the dialect of the actors. Other than
that, the acting is pretty weak.

It's always nice to see horror flicks from the
country that you originate from, especially
when it's a country that rarely produces
horror movies. Unfortunately, this was one
of the worst Swedish horror flicks that I've
seen, Camp Slaughter and Who Are You still
remain the worst though. Don't track this
one down as it's not worth it. Not even for
slasher fans, it's simply not even a real
slasher flick so avoid this.

No gore at all.

Pretty cheesy synth music along with some
rock music. Sounds very 80's, but on the
other hand, it was shot in 1990 so what can
you expect.

Terrible horror flick which doesn't know
whether it wants to be a slasher or an
action flick. The suspense does not exist
and this really is one of those films
where you could fall asleep easily. I've
tried to watch this five times now and
when I finally managed to see it all,
it was simply not worth the while.
