Seven friends head out in the wilderness for a weekend
get-away in a remote cabin. Since there's not a whole
lot to do at night, they decide to play a game which
they have just found lying about in the cabin... a game
which will make them play for their lives. The game is
namely made by evil spirits and if you loose, you die!

Well this was certainly a positive surprise. It's not
often that you get to see low budget independent feature
films with not only a cool and original story, but also
with a great cast that can actually act. The story
revolves around a couple of friends who decide to play
a game in a remote cabin. But when the friends start to
die mysteriously one by one, it seems as if this game is
anything but a normal family game. Soon the friends find
themselves playing for their lives with evil spirits
trying to kill them off.
Now, this is a very original concept and even though this
movie could have been so much more, I was still very
surprised to see how good it was. The directing is very
nice and it actually looks rather high budget for being
a DTV flick. The photography and lighting could have
been better however. The acting is, as I said, surprisingly
good. We actually root for every single one of these
characters, even the bitchy girl (even though she said
that a club in Ibiza is called Fire which is not true).
The ghosts however could've looked a whole lot scarier
as they just look like any goth girl you would see on
the street, and I have so many goth friends that I didn't
even think of the fact that these were supposed
to be ghosts.
Ghost Game does have its fair share of problems and it
never does become very scary. There is however a very
nice atmosphere surrounding the entire movie and I really
liked the original concept. This is one independent
horror flick that I will have to recommend due to its
entertainment value. It's a whole lot better than most
theatrical horror flicks these days. I mean, White Noise
and The Boogeyman? Who were they trying to scare? 5-year
old children with a wild imagination? If you want to
see a ghost flick with a little more brains, Ghost Game
is definitely not one you want to miss.

Not a whole lot of gore, but we do get a stick impalement
which is pretty gory.

The rock music is pretty cool and I also liked the creepy
piano music. I did however feel as if this could have been
better and I'm never a fan of metal music in horror flicks.

I think that we can expect to see a whole bunch of good
horror flicks like this from this new independent film
company, at least I hope so. Ghost Game is original,
entertaining and has a very nice atmosphere going for it.
If you've been let down by stupid recent ghost flicks,
then this is definitely one you should be checking out.
