Jacob is a professional photographer. His studio is
located in a basement where he keeps his photos...
and his victims. One day he goes after young Aimee
who doesn't give up without a fight and Jacob ends
up falling down the stairs. Finally, he manages to
get the situation under control, at least that's what
he thinks. Jacob soon starts hearing noises and seeing
things, is Jacob really alone down there or has his
victims come back to take revenge.

There are many independent horrormovies waiting for
a US release these days, 13 Seconds, The Collingswood
Story and Ghost Of The Needle are just three of
them. Now when I started watching this I really
didn't think that it would be any good, it's not
often you manage to pull a horrormovie off with a
budget this low. Well these guys do almost everything
right, it works just like a Hollywood movie, just
without the budget.

At first sight this movie didn't look very promising
but what I quickly reacted to was the directing.
The camera is perfectly still and never shakes, this
was without a doubt the best directing for an
independent horrormovie I've ever seen. It's also
slick in the way that it films as if there's
someone watching though there's no one really
there. It really manages to keep the suspense
through the entire movie.

They've found a very talented cast to go with this
film aswell. It's not often that horrormovies take
time to develop the characters in the movie
anymore. Well this one does it and still manages
to stay scary through the entire movie. There
wasn't anyone in the movie that was bad, they
were all average to very strong. No surprise this
movie went to film festivals.

Ghost Of The Needle is really one of the scariest
horrormovies ever to come out of America. It even
rangs up among movies like The Ring and The Eye.
If only they would have had a higher budget this
film would have become one of the best movies I
ever seen, period. I was so scared sometimes that
I had to peek through my eyes. I can only hope
that this gets DVD treatment soon as I will be the
first one to buy it.

A gruesome and realistic throat slitting but other
than that it's pretty dry. Didn't really need any
more gore than it had though.

This film was definitely depending on its soundtrack
as it's ultimately creepy. The bass is there so
that you get the spooky feeling and the violins are
there to create the atmosphere. Someone had done
their homework for this is a brilliant score.

I know that I rarely give five stars to movies but
I just loved this one so much despite the fact that
it had such a low budget so I figured that if The
Ring got four stars and had a multimillion budget
and this movie which was slightly better and had a
zero budget, it wouldn't be fair that they both got
a four star rating. Everything about this movie is
unique and I really think that you should try to
see it as soon as possible for this is one hell of
a scary horrormovie.
