Brigitte finds herself in a rehabilitation centre after an
attack by a werewolf. When she realises that they have
taken away the only cure that prevents her from transforming
into a werewolf from her, she knows what she must do in
order to save herself. She must escape. Together with her
newfound friend Ghost, Bridget manages to find an escape
from the hospital but what awaits her on the other side of
the wall is even more terrifying than she could ever have
imagined. Stalked by a werewolf, Ghost and Bridget have to
find a way to stop it before it kills them.

Don't ask me why but I had actually been looking forward
quite a lot to this sequel to the surprise hit Ginger Snaps.
Ginger Snaps is one of the few werewolf movies that I really
liked and the premise of this sequel sounded very promising.
It didn't take very long until gory stills from the movie
started appearing on the net aswell and that made my
expectations grow even more. Well it had none of those
things. The premise was silly and very flat without anything
ever really happening in it. The gore was minimal and the
pictures I have seen on the net must've just been promotion
stills. I guess those 4 million dollars must've been spent
on making those stills because the movie sure didn't look
very good to me.

Hiring a rookie director for this movie was clearly a bad
idea. I had gotten the impression that this was going for
the cinema looks but I must've been wrong there aswell for
this didn't look any better than the average DTV horror
movie. Cabin Fever looked better and that had a much lower
budget. Where did all the money go? The writing credits go
to Megan Martin who should be ashamed of herself making up
this stupid movie. It really felt as if just about anyone
could have made this up. There are even a couple of scenes
that show you that this was obviously mainly made for the
male audience. Why?.

It's no surprise that there are only two familiar faces in
the cast. Emily Perkins saves the movie as good as she can
and I even thought that she was better in this movie than
in the original. Katharine Isabelle however gives us one of
her worst performances so far. I guess she mustn't have been
very happy having only a tiny part in the movie since she
didn't feel in character at all. I hate criticizing young
actors but Tatiana Maslany really was abysmal. She overplays
her character to the fullest and we really never root for
her at all. That was a shame really.

This was a major let down and also a proof of that internet
can give you a very false picture of what a movie is really
about. It seems as if all you really need is a cool tagline,
an eye-catching poster, and some kick-ass promotion stills.
At least that was all that this movie had to offer. The story
was water thin and so was the gore. I can't even recommend
this movie for the few scares that it managed to bring us
since they were all pretty cheap and unoriginal.

It starts out pretty promising with some flashing shots of
a guy who has a severed head. After that all we get is deer
guts. Where the hell did all the gore go.

Even this was a let down. It seems as if they have taken some
dance music and laid a distortion layer over it to make it
sound weird. That didn't work at all. Originality isn't
everything. There's also a scene with some "pop" music but
that's really nothing special. This score failed in every
way that it could.

If you think of this as a stand-alone DTV horror flick, it
might be pretty okay. But after watching the amazing first
movie you can't help getting frustrated about how they
trashed the concept. There was so much that they could have
done and they did so little. Such a shame.
