Ginger Snaps 3 is a kind of prequel to the previous two
movies. Brigitte and Ginger's parents are dead and the
two sisters are desperately trying to find their way
through the cold winter woods. When Brigitte steps in a
bear trap they're forced to take refugee in a Traders'
Fort. This turns out to be a very bad idea as the fort
is surrounded by angry werewolves trying to get in and
when Ginger gets bitten, Brigitte finds herself stuck in
a very difficult situation. While trying to hide the fact
that her sister's been bitten, she also has to try to
come up with a way so that her sister will return to
normal again. This is no easier than it sounds.

Let's take a look at the previous two movies to begin with.
First we have the refreshingly good Ginger Snaps which was
a highschool werewolf movie with a high entertainment
factor. Then we have the less refreshing Ginger Snaps 2
which was pretty stupid and drawn-out. So what could we
expect from Ginger Snaps 3... well, not a lot that's for
sure. While Ginger Snaps 3 makes absolutely no sense in
connection to the previous two movies, it still turned
out to be a pretty good flick.

I'm sorry to say that Brett Sullivan is not nearly as good
a director as Grant Harvey. While Brett managed to get a
dark and depressing look for Ginger Snaps 2, Grant Harvey
managed to bring light into the movie and give it a total
facelift, it really did feel as if this belonged in the
theatres. Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle never sease
to impress me. I thought that Emily was brilliant in the
second Ginger Snaps but in Ginger Snaps 3 they both give us
an outstanding performance.

It might not surpass the original but at least it tries.
The only thing that really bothered me about the movie was
that it doesn't have any connection with the previous two
movies. I mean, how the hell can Ginger and Brigitte be
the same age in the 19th century, and I thought that Ginger
became a werewolf in the first movie. There are quite a
few plot holes to get your head thinking in here.

I would have to say that I think that one who hasn't seen
the previous two movies would probably enjoy this a whole
lot more than someone who has. Ginger Snaps 3 is an
entertaining flick I'll give it that but I simply can not
understand the connection. It's still one of the better
werewolf flicks out there so I definitely advice you to
check it out... just don't try to think too much.

Some slit throats, a decapitated werewolf's head and a lot
of blood splatter. It's not really gory but you still get
the feeling that you're watching a gory flick due to all
the blood splatter.

Hmmm.... perhaps not the best score I've heard for a horror
movie, it works but I wanted to hear powerful drums and
some more 19th century inspired music. It was actually rather
dull in my opinion.

Were you, like me, very disappointed to see that Ginger Snaps 2
was a disastrously bad movie? Well fear not for Ginger Snaps 3
sure makes up for the previous sequel. It might not make that
much sense but it's still a very entertaining movie. Try not
to think too much about the previous movies and you might even
be able to enjoy this more than I did. Check it out.
