Twenty
years ago, a killer terrorized the small
community of Devil's Lake. Now, he's back to finish
off what he once started. Will anyone be able
to kill this masked killer once and for all
before he kills all the remaining teenagers in
Devil's Lake? Well we've found out once before
so why not once more.

Recognize the plot description? Or perhaps you're
just wondering what the last sentence in the plot
description was all about. Well a couple of
months ago I reviewed a terrible 2-hour long
slasher called "The Path Of Evil", knowing that
it was a sequel to Harvest Of Fear. Back then
I had no intentions of watching this but since
there are just so few horror movies getting
released these days, I didn't have much of a choice.
Now, I might have known that The Path of Evil
was a sequel but what I didn't know was that
it was a remake of Harvest Of Fear, and as if
that wasn't enough, it's got 90% of the same
cast. What was the point in making a remake to
a one year old movie with the exact same cast?
Anyway, to my pleasant surprise I found myself
enjoying this a whole lot more than its sequel.
Sure, the acting might be worse but let's face
it, it wasn't exactly brilliant in the sequel
either and there are many elements that are done
so much better in this one.
My main problem with "The Path Of Evil" was that
it was more of a drama than a slasher. Well, in
Harvest Of Fear the focus was mainly on the slasher
part which was nice. The gore effects are anything
but impressive but at least we get a nice, high
body count. This movie also has a much better
pace than its sequel and never becomes really
dull. The fact that this was only 85 minutes
long might have helped that however considering
that the sequel was two-hours long.
Still, Harvest Of Fear is by no means a good
slasher flick, it's just a whole lot more
entertaining than its sequel so if you liked
"The Path Of Evil" you will probably enjoy
"Harvest Of Fear" even more since it's got
less of a ludicrous story.

We get some slit throats, and a rake in ones
stomach, not a lot.

Mainly background music, hard to hear. Does
what it's intended to do but not a whole lot more.

Some consider The Path Of Evil to be better than
Harvest Of Fear but I disagree strongly. As a
slasher fan I have to say that this is a whole
lot more entertaining than its sequel in every
possible way. Not a good slasher but it could
have been a whole lot worse- it could've been
just as bad as the remake.
