Hood of
Horror is an urban horror anthology where
Snoop Dogg takes us through three different horror
stories that take place in the ghetto. I will get
more into detail about the stories in my review so
read on for full plot descriptions.

Ever since I saw the dreadful urban horror movie
"Bones" a couple of years ago, I've been very
sceptical towards urban horror movies. A few of
the ones that I've seen since have turned out okay,
but most of them have been just terrible. I'm going
to guess that Snoop Dogg enjoyed starring in a horror
flick since he's back as the narrator here in this
surprisingly entertaining horror anthology and I'm
happy to say that this was a much more pleasant
experience than Bones was.
Just like with most anthologies, this consists out
of three short horror stories and I figured I might
as well take them one by one. The first story revolves
around a woman whose mother was killed by some thug,
right in front of her eyes, when she was just
a little girl. One day she gets kidnapped by some
bum from the street who gives her a special power;
if she spray-paint's an X over somebody's graffiti
name, that person will die in a horrible accident.
She decides that it's time to take matter into her
own hands and rid the streets from trash. Now, you
may think that this sounds ridiculous, and it really
was, but the accidents were really cool and even
though it was a ridiculous story, I found myself
really enjoying it.
In the second story we're introduced to a white trash
couple who has to stay with a couple of African American
war-heroes for a year to be able to inherit lots of
money. Naturally they're not too fond of this but
decide to make the best out of the situation by
turning the war-heroes into their slaves. One day
the war-heroes get enough and decide that it's
payback time. This was definitely the least impressive
out of the three stories but due to the over-the-top
gore scenes, I couldn't help enjoying this one either.
Normally I hate it when it's white people vs black
people but this white trash couple had it coming.
Finally, the third story revolves around a newly
discovered rapper whose best friend recently died.
But things aren't quite as they seem. Soon the
rapper finds himself stuck in a room together with
a zombie. I really can't tell you more than that.
Anyway, this was definitely the best story and this
was mainly because two of my all time favourite
actors had small cameos in it - Lin Shaye and Jason
Alexander (more famous as George Costanza from
Seinfeld). This was the least gory story though.
Hood Of Horror is easily one of the best urban horror
movies that I've seen. I know many of you will hate
it, but if you've sat through as many urban DTV horror
flicks as I have, you'll probably appreciate this one
a bit more. The stories are very original and even
if they are a bit far-fetched and out there, at least
I give them credit for trying something new. If you
like urban horror movies, Hood Of Horror is a definite
must. Even though I'm not a big fan of Snoop Dogg,
I couldn't help myself from enjoying this cheesy
little horror anthology.

This was definitely a whole lot gorier than I had
expected it to be. We get dismembered legs, a bottle
impaled through ones head (best scene in this entire
movie), a couple of more impalements, an exploded
stomach and some more. It will not disappoint in
this department, I can guarantee that.

First of all let me just say; Rednex - Cotton Eye
Joe while having sex!? Hahaha, whoever came up with
that scene was genius, so hilarious. We mainly
get hip hop music though which is competent enough
but definitely not my style.

Hood Of Horror wasn't even half as bad as I thought
that it would be, I actually thought it was a pretty
entertaining movie. Sure, the whole ghetto thing isn't
really my style but it's competently made and the
stories get a lot of credit for being original. If
you like urban horror flicks, be sure to catch this
one, it's one of the best ones I've seen so far.
