A family has just moved into a new apartment and
everything seems very idyllic at first... until
the son disappears. The parents are in misery and
it seems as if there is no way of finding their
son. But what they don't know is that their son
has been kidnapped by a crazy lady living in the
building's ventilation system.

The creepy ghost girl concept has died out and Asia
is struggling to keep their good reputation in the
horror industry. I used to love Asian horror movies
before but these days I just don't get very worked
up about them as they are all pretty much the same.
Well Home Sweet Home came as a pleasant fresh breeze
and hopefully this will result in many more original
horror movies from Asia in the near future. This
story does have the creepy ghost chick, the only
thing is, she's not a ghost this time, which makes
it all so much more creepy and disturbing. It's a
mentally disturbed woman who is holding a young boy
hostage and it sure stirs up a lot of feelings.

There isn't really a complex story in this one but
that just gives us more time to be able to root for
all the characters. The grieving mother who will do
just about anything to get her beloved son back and
the mentally disturbed woman who we can't help but
to feel sorry for. It's not often that you actually
root for the bad guy but this movie confuses you
and makes you root for both the good and the bad
guy at the same time, now that's some good script
writing (and acting of course). The directing is
great with some very original and creative angles
and the entire movie feels very dirty, which was
probably the purpose.

I hope that we will get to see more horror flicks
like this in the future. This was original, it was
fast-paced (for fans of Asian horror movies at
least) and it was very entertaining. It wouldn't be
a big surprise if this got remade in the US
sometime soon. If you have brain capacity enough
to watch a subtitled movie, you should definitely
check this one out, it is surprisingly good.

We get a chopped off finger but that's about it.

Beautiful score of course with very nice piano music
which really puts you in the right mood.

This was a very welcome fresh breeze into the Asian
horror industry. This was original, entertaining and
even a little bit disturbing at times. It might not
be a big gore fest as some of the posters for this
movie suggests but it is a really good movie so
don't miss this one!
