Ian is on his
way home after having dropped off his
girlfriend when he is attacked and killed by an
unseen creature. He wakes up in his office and finds
out that it was all a nightmare... or was it? Every
day Ian dies, and he has no idea where he will wake
up the next day... or the same day actually. Why are
these creatures trying to kill him and what does he
have to do to stop them?

"What's the matter? Are you scared?", with those
simple words the end titles start to run and the sad
thing is, none of us are scared. The matter is that
we're bored, well most of us anyway. The Deaths Of Ian
Stone is yet another disappointing horror movie featured
in this years After Dark Horror Fest event. What's even
worse is that this movie was technically good enough
to be an actual theatrical horror flick, but the
content of the movie itself was so poor that it ended
up feeling extremely DTV. There's no way in hell that
this deserved the theatrical release that it got.
The Deaths Of Ian Stone may sound like Final Destination
meets Groundhog Day but it's not. It's the story of
Ian Stone (duh), a young man who spends his spare time
playing hockey and has a decent job at an office. The
only thing is, every day Ian dies and the next day
he can barely remember anything about what has happened.
Apparently some dark creatures who feed off of peoples
fears want to kill him and this is where it gets silly.
Judging by the previews, The Deaths Of Ian Stone would
be an original and exciting horror thriller, but it's
not. It's a silly supernatural teen thriller with a
clichéd script and one of the lousiest twist endings
in history. I really thought that this was going to
be one of the better movies of this years horror fest.
As I said before though, Ian Stone is technically quite
competent and it looks like it cost a decent amount
of money to make - even if the CGI-effects are rather
cheap-looking (think what Species VII will look like
and you have the CGI-effects in Ian Stone). It also
starts out rather interesting and at first you're
actually expecting a good movie. But as soon as Ian
dies for the first time, all that changes. From here
on out, it's a brainless ride with zero thrills and
no suspense. It's a supernatural teen thriller that
doesn't try to break new grounds and with a mediocre
cast and an even less intriguing story, it falls flat.
It should be mentioned however that it is better than
many supernatural theatrical teen flicks that I've
seen *cough* The Fog *cough* that had much higher
budgets than this.
At the end of the day, Ian Stone may be worth a rent
on DVD if you have nothing better to do with your time
but it's definitely not a movie to watch in the cinemas
and I'm glad that I didn't (just like last year, After
Dark's horror films have hit DVD in Europe very early).
Technically competent and has a few decent moments
but fails to scare or really entertain, I'm gravely
disappointed in this movie as I had hoped that this
would be the one movie to redeem After Dark's poor
decisions in horror flicks this year. I guess not.

An impalement, a slit throat and very little more.

It was all right, nothing special.

Forgettable and clichéd "haven't I seen this movie
before?" horror flick which fails to both entertain
and thrill its audience. The characters are flat,
the story is corny, the creatures are ridiculous
and there's just nothing there to really keep you
interested in what's going on.
