A couple of friends go to the mountains for some
skiing and drinking but when one of them dies in
a tragic accident the party ends. Now, four years
later, the friends have a small get together at
a cabin in the mountains, well guess what? they're
not alone. Someone dressed as a skier has followed
them and seems to be ready to off them one by one.

I've been wanting to see this 80's slasher for ages
but I've never gotten the chance. After having watched
Shredder I started to become desperate and now,
finally, I found it on one of our supplier’s sites.
Well, I knew all along that Iced wouldn't be a very
good movie but I still found myself enjoying it a
whole lot more than I thought that I would. The
character development might be a bit too drawn-out
but once the killer shows up, it all goes pretty
fast. Iced isn't just a slasher, it's also kind of
a ghost story, or at least it feels like it. There's
this one bone chilling scene where the friends get
a phone call, and that scene just sent chills down
my spine, unforgettable.
The characters are all likable (except for one
obvious exception, and it's not the killer), and
they all really seem to be friends. Rare thing in
a slasher movie. These people are actually quite
alike, and not totally different people who seem
to hate each others guts. I think that was important
to keep this movie as interesting as it was. The
directing is pretty good as well, there's nothing
special about the filming really but Jeff Kwitny
still seems to know what he's doing.
Iced is a perfect example of an averagely good
slasher movie. It lacks of gore, which is necessary
in a slasher, but it has a realistic story, which
many other slashers lack of. I still think I'll
stick to the newly made "Shredder" but the two
movies are very similar. The only thing is, that
this doesn't feel as much as a horror movie as it
should have. Some more murders and just a touch
of atmosphere would have spiced up this movie.
Pretty good waste of time in my opinion.

One, I repeat, ONE impalement, and it doesn't even
look real. Pretty dry stuff people, well, there was
a lot of (presumably) wet snow. We do get one knife
stab in the shoulder scene though but that's not
too impressive either.

For being such a typical 80's teenage flick, it
still has a pretty good soundtrack. It creates great
atmosphere and there's hardly any cheesy 80's pop
music with some exceptions for the opening scene.

While I still prefer Shredder, Iced is a pretty
descent time killer which offers a realistic but
still fairly entertaining story and a couple of
chills. It's nothing spectacular but I still
wouldn't call it a waste of time. I say check it
out if you get the chance.
