A warehouse is re-opening after a fire that took place
there a year ago but a couple of days before the big
opening, the staff turns up dead. They all look like they
have taken suicide but the strange thing is that they
were all killed with the opposite hand that they normally
use. This forces an ex-detective to question if the
rumours about the warehouse being haunted is true... well
he is just about to find out.

Killer opening scenes have a very deep impact on my
feelings regarding a movie. It doesn't really matter
if the entire movie is only so and so, a good opening
scene can make me think of an average movie as a great
movie, just look at movies like Flashback and Shredder.
That way this movie was quite fortunate as it had a
terrific opening scene involving a girl and a mirror,
I won't spoil anything else for you.

As soon as we had left the opening scene and begun
with the main story I found myself surprisingly
pleased with the slick and original directing.
Seong-ho Kim uses effective but quite simple camera
effects to impress us and it works. This is even
more surprising since this is his directorial debut.
One thing I've learned about Korean horrormovies is
that even if some of them might be terrible, they
seem to share one thing, they all look good.

Not completely unpredicted, we get to see quite a
few faces here that we've seen before so I think it
might be needless to say that all of these actors
knew what they were doing on screen. You'll see
people you recognize from Sorum, Gawi, The Quiet
Family and more. Finally I got to see a horrormovie
that I really liked, it's been a while now and I
really needed this, I was losing my faith in modern
day horrormovies. Thank you Seong-ho Kim.

Bring on the ketchup because this is one ghost flick
that kills the goreless ghost flick wave. One person
gets split in half and one gets a slit throat. There's
also a cool mirror stabbing in eye scene and a couple
of bloody gunshots. I was not let down.

This was actually pretty average. It does what it's
intended to do but there's no originality to it or
even a real signature melody. Come on, it's a horrormovie,
at least bring on some spooky wind effects. Oh well
at least we got some cool strings here and there.

Into The Mirror was without a doubt my kind of movie.
South Korea has really impressed me lately with
movies like Phone and A Tale Of Two Sisters. If they
keep this up, they might even be able to become
bigger than Japan in the horror genre. This is one
movie that I don't recommend you to miss.
