A woman who runs a fishing place falls in love when an ex-police
officer one day check in. But her love gets fatal when she gets
competition and she won't tolerate that. What started out as an
innocent love story is just about to take a wrong for the worse.

The Isle is an erotic artistic thriller, which is just about as
Non-American as a movie can get. You might have noticed that I
wrote a very short description of the plot and it's really just
because there isn't a lot of a story to it. It's only one and a
half hour long and it still felt as if I had watched it for three
hours. It's a good movie but it sort of brings your thoughts to
the expression 'Watching paint dry'.

The camerawork in this movie is fantastic and it's the main reason
why you should watch this. The colours are beautiful and they are
a real treat for your eye. I can't really go into detail on the
acting though as there was very little dialogue in the movie, I mean,
the woman that had the lead role didn't even say a word through
the entire movie. There are only about 20 comments in the entire
movie and that doesn't exactly help speed things up.

I think you either love this movie or don't get it at all. I didn't
get it at all. I just liked it because of the excellent directing.
I think it tries to be too much of a powerful drama but lets face
it, it's not very powerful. And what about the ending, I didn't
get that at all and I'm still wondering what the hell was up with
that. I think many things could have been handled better and I
thought they could have spiced things up a little here and there.
While I like it when a story takes time to develop, this didn't
develop at all.

This is the main reason why you can't classify it as just a drama.
There is a very gruesome fishhook scene, oh if you've seen it
you'll know what I mean. I almost had to turn the TV off when I
saw that but I decided not to be squeamish.

Well since it doesn’t have any dialogue you can tell that a lot of
effort was put into the soundtrack. There's some beautiful piano
music and some guitar music, which creates the perfect atmosphere.

An incredibly slow movie with a story that goes absolutely nowhere.
If you like artsy movies, you might love this one. I just didn't
get how this could have gotten such a good reputation since there
was nothing going on in it. I usually love artsy movies though but
the only thing that gripped me in this movie was the directing and
the beautiful scenery.
