Young Toshio hasn't been coming to school lately and Mr. Kobayashi
decides to go and visit Toshio and his parents. At first it seems
as if nobody's home but after a while he manages to find the young
boy in the really messy house. The parents are nowhere to be found
so he assumes that they're out shopping. But there's more to the
house than what reaches the eye. This one family isn't exactly what
you would call the ordinary family.

Ju-on is a very overrated movie in my opinion. I started watching
this with really high expectations but all I got was an average,
but still really creepy, lowbudget horrormovie. Ju-on is probably
one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen, it basically uses short
stories surrounding the house and what happened to the previous
owners and merges those stories into the movie. You would think
that this would take a while but the movie is only about an hour
long. Towards the end of the movie it even felt a little as if they
had made up the ending as they went along so that the movie would
cross the hour mark.
The directing isn't exactly brilliant, but considering the fact that
it had a budget of $4,000,000, it still looked pretty slick. The
only flaw that I can find really is that the picture is really
blurry and the DVD release that I watched was like watching a high budget
movie on an old VHS copy that had been copied eight times before.
The acting is noticeably from most actors, with exception from the
teacher and the young boy who did an all right job.
What also annoyed me about Ju-on was that there were so many stupid
things that they didn't think about. First of all, if you hear a
weird noise from the attic, you don't just ignore it and start
playing music, that's just irrational thinking. Second of all there
were scenes in the movie that made no sense at all, like a scene
involving a man in a plastic bag or whatever. And in the end of the
movie you could tell that it was a twist ending but I just didn't
get it. I was like, Okay... so what was the deal with that? I have
to give it credits though because I was scared through almost the
entire movie and there were some unforgettable creepy scenes that
made this movie worth watching.

Nothing much, the only real gore we get is a person that's missing
the jaw, that was pretty gory.

Some funny pop music and some creepy piano music is what this score
consists of, nothing special really.

A bit of a let down to be honest but still very watch worthy so I
suggest that you check it out if you're ready to be scared to death
and not worry about a lot of plot holes, then this is definitely
something for you. But personally, I don't think that being creepy
is enough, I want a good story to go along with it.
