Five friends are on vacation in China and decide to
hit the town one night. After getting into a small
fight, they decide to spend the night at a sleazy
x-rated theatre - something which they're about to
find out wasn't a very good idea. They soon realize
that they're in the middle of a live snuff show,
and they're starring as the victims.

My feelings towards this sleazy, Canadian gorror
flick are, to say the least, mixed. I kind of
enjoyed it but I assure you, I have some very
negative things to say about this movie as well.
Live Feed feels, as I think that most of you have
all ready figured out from the looks of the cover,
like a cheap cash-in on Hostel. It's got a very
similar plot and the main topic is torture. However,
Live Feed was actually shot BEFORE Hostel and what
makes Live Feed a bit different from Hostel is that
this one actually has the gore which I felt that
we never got in Eli Roth's box-office hit.

Hostel isn't the only movie that Live Feed has things
in common with though. Just like with the abysmal
horror flick "Murder-Set-Pieces", I felt like some
of the gore scenes were there just to disgust you,
they didn't really have any point. The same goes
for all of the nudity (mind you I saw the unrated
version). There were several shots of a fully nude
stripper playing around on her pole and she really
didn't serve any purpose.

Since we're all ready focusing on the movies negative
sides I might as well mention the incredibly poor
acting as well. The dialogues felt incredibly forced
and the actors just didn't seem very comfortable with
their characters. Okay, there, I'm done pounding on
this movie, now let's take a look at why I gave this
a pretty good rating.

First of all, I really dug the thin, but good plot.
Second of all, the gore isn't quite as hysterical
as it was in Murder-Set-Pieces, in fact, I actually
thought that the death and action scenes were really
tasteful and entertaining (perhaps not the right
words to use here but you get the idea). And let's
not forget about the main villain, who really looked
like he was inspired by the samurai from the Guinea
Pig film "Flower Of Flesh & Blood". He was clearly
the best thing about this movie.

Live Feed is also shot nicely, and while the editing
is questionable at times, I was quite impressed with
some of the angles that the director used. When it
all comes down to the bottom line though, Live
Feed really isn't a movie you watch for the story or
the directing, it's a movie you watch because of the
over-the-top gore scenes and action scenes. While
it completely failed to disgust me, it really managed
to entertain me - and that's a positive thing.

We get impalements, a decapitation, slashed throats,
a mouth stapled and lots of blood splatter. Definitely
a movie for the gore-hounds.

The cheap rock music didn't really impress but the
electronic suspense score did. It felt professionally
made and grabbed my attention every time it started
to play. Watch out for some cool beats in the end credits.

Definitely a movie for those who liked "Hostel" but
thought that it could have been gorier. Live Feed
may be low budget but it's aware of its limitations
and never turns into a cheese-fest (not according
to me anyway). If you're a fan of gory torture
flicks and enjoy the Guinea Pig films, this is
definitely a movie I can recommend.
