After the death
of their parents, Chris and Nicole go
to live with their Aunt Jillian and quickly mix with
a bad crowd. It doesn't take long before Nicole turns
into a vampire and Chris has to figure out a way to
get her back before it's too late.

I find it funny that people are producing DTV sequels
of old horror movies these days, I guess they'll do
anything to get their movies to stand out in a much
too crowded horror scene. The Lost Boys is a movie
which I've always thought that we'd get a remake of
but I'm happy that they decided to do a sequel instead.
Oh and guess what? It actually doesn't suck. Some kid
on IMDb wrote that it should've been better, obviously
this guy hasn't seen a lot of the recent crap that's
been released because this should have been a lot worse
if you ask me. Heck, it actually almost felt like I was
watching a theatrical sequel from the late 80's. It's
got the atmosphere of its predecessor and it's got
enough connection with it to please genre fans such as
myself. Yes! That's right people. It doesn't completely
ignore the fact that it's a sequel.
The mildly interesting story revolves around Chris and
Nicole (who are clearly much older in reality than
in the movie), two siblings who have been through some
rough times lately as their parents died in a tragic
car accident. After a lot of grief, Nicole thinks that
it's time for a night out only she ends up getting
tricked into drinking the blood of a vampire, which
turns her into a vampire as well. Now, Chris has to
find a way to stop the transformation before Nicole's
doomed to live as a vampire for the rest of eternity.
Granted, it's not the most original of plots but at
least it's entertaining enough to keep you interested,
which is a lot more than what can be said for most
recent vampire movies.
Warner Brothers clearly had faith in this film as the
production values are decent and the acting is better
than expected (from most anyway). They've brought back
a few cast members from the predecessor such as Corey
Feldman (who's not the best of actors these days, what
happened?), Corey Haim and Jamison Newlander, this
clearly showed that they had a lot respect for the
original when they went into this project. PJ Pesce
does a decent job behind the camera though it's
obvious that he plays it quite safe. The cinematography
is quite nice and surprisingly enough we get a couple
of really gory scenes in here.
You know what? In the end I don't think anyone expected
this to be even watchable and it turned out to be
quite entertaining so I actually wouldn't mind a third
Lost Boys movie. I know this one took me by surprise
so don't let the fact that it's a DTV sequel scare you
off because they did a pretty decent job with this one
guys, I'm impressed.

We get decapitated head, guts, impalements and a whole
lot more, surprisingly gory.

Nice rock score which amps up the movie.

A surprisingly entertaining DTV sequel which, in my
opinion, turned out to be much better than it probably
should have been. I mean, it's a 20 year delayed sequel,
what could you really expect? Anyway, I hope that we
get to see more DTV sequels like this in the future
from Warner Brothers. Good job.
