Motor Man
Dan is obsessed with serial killers. One day
he accidentally hits a man with his car who ends up
suffering from a severe head trauma. Dan decides to
make the most out of the situation and brainwashes the
man into becoming a serial killer. Together with his
newly created "machine", Dan lures unsuspecting
customers into his workshop of terror.

Every now and then, a DTV horror movie which is
actually worth watching shows up. Machined is not one
of them. While I'm positive that there's a decent (not
great) movie in here, someone has ruined this movie
completely by adding unnecessary and annoying elements.
Let me start from the top.
A fat, hairy guy with glasses (why do so many people
seem to think that fat guys make good villains?) has
created the ultimate serial killer - half man, half
machine. That's the main plot right there. For the
rest of the movie we get to see random characters
get killed in various, unexciting ways (I've heard
of natural deaths that were more exciting than these).
Oh and there's also a subplot, which later becomes
the main plot. See the machine-man has a sister who's
out looking for him, but when she finally finds him,
she's going to wish that she didn't. Luckily she doesn't
seem to have any problems stabbing her brother with
various items (there's a "But he's my brother" in
there somewhere but it doesn't take many seconds before
she jams some sharp object into his stomach).
As I said before though, the plot isn't the main problem
with this movie. Had it been executed better I'm sure
it could have been somewhat entertaining, but the real
problem lies elsewhere. First we have the atrocious
acting accompanied by underdeveloped characters. We
also have the robotic sound effects which are played
excessively every time the machine man is on screen
(what caused these sounds anyway? the camera?). And
what happened to the mask that was put on the killer?
He only used that one time and then he wore that
ridiculous-looking outfit for the rest of the time.
Since I'm still on the subject of audio, I might as
well tell you that I hated the annoying soundtrack.
It was mildly effective at first but hardly a minute
goes by without any "creepy" music. There's no
suspense there so why fill the movie with cheesy
scare music? And finally, let's not forget about
all the twitching and flashing. The chubby hairy guy
has a twitch, his television makes white noise every
now and then, strange melodies are played from, what
sounds like, an old vinyl player which is apparently
broken since the melodies repeat a short part over
and over again and naturally, all the light bulbs are
bad so they flicker hysterically.
I think that the guys behind this film were just a bit
overambitious and wanted to fill it with as many
"cool" special effects as they could possibly get
for a cheap buck. The script for this movie was probably
a whole lot better than the final product. Don't
waste your time on this one.

Nothing special, a guy gets impaled by knife, some
blood splatter. Generally very bloodless even if the
body count is decent.

Cheesiest soundtrack ever which plays constantly
throughout the movie. The movie never even gets a chance
to become suspenseful since the over-the-top scare
music is being played constantly.

It might have a cover that looks like "Wolf Creek" but
the resemblance stops there. Machined is a low-budget,
experimental slasher flick which has an alright story
line but terrible execution. Avoid this one.
