Akiba-San is a ghost hunter and when he one day
receives a mail from someone who needs help with
getting rid of a ghost in a painting, he also
finds himself a new assistant, Mikoto. In Mail
we get to follow Akiba-San and Mikoto on their
missions to destroy all ghostly spirits, and it is
anything but a blast.

After having watched a bunch of Japanese horror
anthologies, I thought it was time to watch a proper
full length movie and since I had heard about this
movie a while ago, I decided to check it out. And
guess what I found out? It's yet another anthology,
just built up a little bit differently. The movie
revolves around the ghost hunter Akiba-San and his
new-found assistant Mikoto. Together, they help
people to get rid of ghosts and we get to follow
some of their adventures.

The first one is called "The Reunion" in which
Akiba-San helps a woman to get rid of some friendly
ghosts. This was anything but scary, and since the
ghosts were friendly, there really wasn't anything
interesting about this assignment. In the second
assignment, called "The Stalker", his assistant,
Mikoto, helps a woman to get rid of a jealous ghost
who's in love with her husband. This one is slightly
better than the first one but still, it never gets
close to suspenseful.

After the first two stories, I was all ready getting
tired of the movie. The movie had no scare or
suspense factor in it at all and it seemed as if
it wasn't really going anywhere. But since the movie's
almost two hours long and I had all ready watched 40
minutes of it, I figured that I might as well keep
on watching.

Sadly, the third story turned out to be just as dull
as the first two. This one is called "Katsumi-San"
and revolves around a girl who's positive that her
friend was killed by an evil ghost. As you can hear,
there isn't really a whole lot of depth in these
stories and this third one was unoriginal and very
predictable (the little twist at the ending was
pretty obvious if you ask me). Now, in the fourth
story, it seems as if we are supposed to be very
interested in the main plot (which at least I wasn't),
as we get some back-story on Akiba-San. This story
is called "The Boy With Sight" and is a complete
"The Eye" rip-off, if you see it you'll know what
I mean. This very slow back story made me lose even
more interest in the story. Instead of getting more
and more intense, this just got slower and slower.

So it's finally time for the last story. This one is
called "The Promise", oh and yay! It's another back
story! The key character actually falls asleep at
one point during this story and when not even the
actors can stay awake, how can the viewer? Mail is
without a doubt one of the dullest horror anthologies
I've seen. It shouldn't even be called a horror
anthology as there isn't any horror in it at all.
The only good thing about it is the fact that Chiaki
Kuriyama has a pretty big role in it. Other than
that, this was pretty worthless.

We do get to see a bloody hand but this movie is
really anything but a horror movie so that bloody
hand isn't a whole lot to stick around for.

The slow piano music just made this movie an even
worse experience. It doesn't get much duller than this.

Mail is almost two hours of incredibly dull stories
with absolutely no suspense or scares at all. I don't
know why they call this a horror movie, because it's
really not. Don't check this one out unless you
suffer from insomnia and are looking for a movie
which will put you to sleep.
