Four friends
are out camping when an old man
sits down by their campfire and starts to tell
them about the massacre that took place in
the exact same woods not too long ago.
A while back, while searching for new slasher
flicks to distribute through Slasherpool on
DVD, I ran into this little slasher. The movie
seemed interesting enough and so I figured I'd
be releasing this. Well, one night I decide
to check this movie out and I can tell you
this much, there's no way in hell that we would
put our name on this DVD. This movie felt like
one big joke. I mean, there are so many things
about this movie that's just wrong. In fact,
here is a list of all the goofs that I could
find in the movie.
1. It's in the middle of the night in the middle
of the forest and the entire camp is lit up
like a UFO was floating above them while the
rest of the woods around them is pitch black.
2. I counted to more than five times when the
actors looked straight into the camera.
3. In the story that is told within the movie,
they use the exact same tent as the friends
outside the story use... at the exact same place!
4. When a girl gets out of the tent we can
clearly see that there is a big house lying
right next to the tent, wasn't this supposed
to be in the middle of the forest?
5. Every actress is wearing hotpants, even the
leader of the hiking group. Now, I've been
camping many times and you would think that
someone with that much experience as the leader
should know how much it hurts to go hiking
through the woods in short pants.
6. Every time someone gets killed you can
clearly, and I mean CLEARLY see that they're
still breathing. It's like they don't even
try to cover it up.
7. One time we actually get to see a spotlight
flashing right into the camera.
8. When you watch something on a video camera
it usually doesn't say "REC" in the left
corner, well in this movie it did!
I'm sure I've missed a couple of goofs but those
were the most obvious ones. The entire movie
is extremely abysmal and nothing even happens
until 50 minutes into the movie (the movie's
only barely 80 minutes long). All we get to
see in the movie is basically girls in their
late twenties acting like their 16-18 years
old while having lesbian sex with each other.
So what is really "Massacre at Rocky Ridge"?
It's basically a soft-core lesbian porno flick
with a couple of TERRIBLE death scenes towards
the ending. This is absolute crap (and I NEVER
refer to movies as crap but that's simply the
only way I can describe this movie in one word)
Whatever you do, do NOT see this film! Don't
you worry, we will NOT be distributing this.
We ONLY get stabs in chicks stomachs and every
death scene looks incredibly fake.
The almost non existing soundtrack made the
movie feel like a bad documentary that never
aired on local television. We get some
occasional abysmal MIDI music and some
even worse piano music.
Massacre At Rocky Ridge might have some cool
photography work and editing but this is
ultimately a horrid film. I'm surprised I got
through this one actually. Slasher fans, be
aware, this is not something you want to
spend money on!
