Mr. Haeckel is a medical student and is currently
trying to re-animate dead bodies. Meanwhile, his
father is very sick and is lying on his deathbed
which puts a lot of pressure on young Mr. Haeckel.
Will he be able to find a cure for his father or
will he even be able to re-animate the dead?

What the hell is John McNaughton doing directing
a "Masters Of Horror" episode? The only good
thing he's brought to the horror genre is Henry
Portrait Of A Serial Killer and that was really
more of a thriller than a horror flick. Either
way, this episode is based on a Clive Barker
story and it's surprising to see just how average
it is. Did we really need another Frankenstein
horror flick anyway?

The movie opens up with a man begging to a woman
that she will re-animate his recently deceased
wife. She agrees to do so if he will listen to
the tale of Haeckel. Unfortunately he accepts the
offer and we have to sit through a pretty slow
and quite unimpressive Frankenstein zombie tale.
John McNaughton's directing is good but below
par in my opinion. He, if anyone, should have
really stepped up and done something different
in this series.

I might sound a bit harsh in my review so to
make it clear, this is not a bad episode, it's
just a very average one. It's slightly better
than the last one but I mean, this is the third
zombie movie in this series and still we haven't
gotten a single slasher or vampire episode.
I thought this series was meant to please all
horror fans and not just the zombie fans.

We get a gory open body and some guts.

Very nice and suiting score with music that is
almost indescribable.

If you're a fan of Frankenstein movies you will
probably enjoy this tale. I just thought that
it was very average and the twist ending was very
predictable if you ask me. Not one of the best
episodes in this show but not one of the worst
ones either.
