May
grew up without any friends because of her lazy eye. On one birthday,
her mother gives her a doll and tells her that if you can't find a friend,
make one. May keeps the doll by her side for many years until one day, she
meets a guy. She asks the doll for advice and everything seems to be going
perfectly... until May makes a big mistake. Obsessed with perfection, May
goes out on a hunt for the perfect body parts to create her own best friend.

One of the most hyped movies of 2002 is finally here after way too much
postponing and delaying. May didn't quite live up to my expectations but
I still thought it was good. Mixing modern day comedies with old
fashion Frankenstein, May managed to disgust and entertain its audience.
May isn't what you call an average horrormovie since it's really not a
horrormovie. I wonder what made May so famous since there was a very
similar movie called Boltneck that came out a couple of years ago which
was a complete disaster at the box-office and was hated by many. I thought
that Boltneck was just as good as May since May was kind of silly and
there were many scenes that could've been done so much better.
The director behind this weird movie is Lucky McKee and I guess you can
call it his debut since all he directed before this was called "All
Cheerleaders Die", and that movie hasn't even been released. I would
have to say that I think there are some rookie mistakes to be found but
other than that, the directing is awesome and looks incredibly good.
The acting is even better, Anna Faris is at her best, all is forgiven
after Scary Movie and Lovers Lane, keep doing this lesbian horny bitch
thing instead, works so much better for you. Angela Bettis plays the
weird, shy girl, May, and she does a pretty damn good job aswell.
May reminded me a lot of Office Killer (1997) as it has the same kind
of characters and the same kind of story basically. I suggest that you
check that movie out aswell if you like this one. However, if you didn't
enjoy Office Killer, there's a very small chance that you will enjoy
May. May is coming to Swedish theatres next week so I'll probably check
it out there aswell despite the ridiculous 9 dollars you have to pay
to watch a movie once, come on! That's about as much as a DVD is these
days. I was disappointed by May but this is still a pretty good movie.
Who knows? Maybe I'll enjoy it more at the theatres.

A lot
of dismembered body parts here along with some throat slitting and
some scalp action. I actually thought it would be gorier though.

Just
like the movie, the soundtrack is weird. I don't really know what
to call it, it's like a mixture between pop, grunge and calm music, but
it works pretty well.

Many
may disagree with me when I say that this isn't all that great, but
remember, I was expecting a kick ass movie after reading all those rave
reviews and I only got an average horror comedy, which only had one or two
laughs in it. I think this is worth checking out and most people do like
it better than I did, so you should definitely see this one.
