Some people take a trip out to the country in hope of finding
gold in an abandoned mine. Unfortunately they find more than they
bargained for. Now a vicious killer is after them, but he's not
human. As the greedy couples try to find a way to get out of the
mess they put themselves in, the amount of people sharing the
gold gets smaller and smaller.

As usual I expected way too much from a DTV slasher. This was
just as bad as any other lowbudget slasher. As soon as the
opening titles had passed I knew that this was something I
was not going to be able to enjoy. So the movie gets going
and I slowly realise my mistake still it's pretty good cheesy
slasher fun... until Karen Black arrives, that brought this
movie to new levels of cheesiness. I didn't really like the
whole concept with the miner being a ghost so I guess I should
have seen this coming really.
John Buechler doesn't exactly help this movie to get rid of
the lowbudget feeling. The directing is actually really bad,
even for Buechler, one of his worst directorial performances
ever in my opinion. As I said before, Karen Black was abysmal
and has to be one of the cheapest actors to hire. The rest
of the cast isn't exactly brilliant either and they are all
no-name actors so that part felt very cheap aswell. Nothing
really very attractive about this movie at all except for
the kick-ass cover when you come to think of it.
So far I've just said negative things about this movie and
I have to say that there are quite a few things that I liked
about the movie no matter how bad it was. First of all,
almost no killings were off-screen, second of all it had a
couple of jumps here and there and third of all the explosion
scenes in this movie were excellent and looked just as
realistic as in a high budget movie. Still, it was a bad
movie so these three elements doesn't save it but it helps
it from getting a one star rating.

We get a couple of dismembered heads, one gets the finger
bit off, there are some nice pick-axe impalements and one
gets a shovel through the neck, pretty nice actually.

The soundtrack was basically just some cheap pop music but
it didn't need a whole lot more, worked pretty well actually.

No matter how big of a slasherfan you are, you will not
find this better than average, that's a promise. This is
just one of hundreds of DTV slashers and if you are
desperate for a DTV slasher, take my advice and rent
something else than this.
