Adam and his friend are on their way to visit an old
friend who Adam is still in love with. On their way there
they almost get run over by a monster truck but manage
to get away. After a while they run into Sarah, a good-
looking girl who decides to hitch with them. What she
doesn't know is that they are being stalked by a psycho
maniac in a monster truck.

Monster Man is just one of many new lowbudget horrormovies
that Lions Gate has picked up. They are usually really good
and I had heard nothing but great stuff about this aswell,
but what starts out like a cheap horror comedy ends like a
tragic Jeepers Creepers wannabe. Monster Man really had the
potential to impress me with great sound effects and quite
a lot of gore. Still, this movie needed more than gore to
survive and in the end you don't feel completely satisfied
with the result.

I wasn't very impressed with the directing at all, it was
really nothing special at all and overall it was pretty
bleak. The same goes for the acting which was just about
as average as average can be. The characters were a bit
too stupid and silly to really root for. The whole thing
just felt a tad too unserious. It was almost as if a
couple of friends had just won the lotto and had decided
to make a horrormovie. At least I hope that they had
fun making it.

The main reason for why I didn't really care much for this
horrorflick was because it was so incredibly unoriginal,
even I Know What You Did Last Summer was more original.
We've all seen this story before in Jeepers Creepers, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre, Detour, Wrong Turn, Roadkill etc etc etc.
If none of those movies had ever been made this would
probably have felt a whole lot better but really this was
just one in the bunch.

Even if the movie itself is pretty gory, all the gore is
supposed to be funny. We get a slit throat, a gory corpse,
a guy without a head, someone gets his legs run over by
a monster truck and a gory mashed face. Then we have one who
gets split in half but like I said before, nothing of this
is to be taken seriously.

This was where it really missed its target. This soundtrack
might aswell have come from some teencomedy, there was
absolutely no scare factor at all in the score.

Cheap Jeepers Creepers rip-off with too much pathetic humour
and not enough horror and scares. It's an okay movie but
that's really all it is. If you feel that you haven't
got enough of road killing movies, go ahead and check this
one out but it's the worst of the ones I've seen at least.
