Mosquitoes have
been infecting people with a deadly decease
recently and scientists are working hard to come up with an
antidote. A convict gets to be the test subject for the antidote
but when he escapes everything gets out of hand. He accidentally
gets sprayed by every antidote they've made up, even the
unsuccessful ones, when a shoot out goes wrong. Well, you might
say that this has side effects since he rapidly turns into a
giant murderous mosquito.

Oh how exiting this sounds! A modern take on The Fly basically
huh? Well yes and no. I thought that The Fly was pretty good
but this was just ridiculous. When I got the DVD in my mail
box my expectations were relatively high due to the ultra cool
DVD sleeve but as soon as I started watching it and Nu Image's
logo popped up on my screen my expectations went from high to
very very low. Nu Image aren't exactly famous for being great
at making creature features. They spit out about 5-8 creature
features every year and if we're lucky, one or two of them are
all right but most of them tend to be quite abysmal. Mosquito
Man is one of the abysmal ones.
It plays just like every other Nu Image feature we've seen.
Good guys versus bad guys, bad guy gets super power and kills
everyone. It's like they're not even trying to come up with
an original plot anymore. I thought that Octopus, one of their
first creature features, was pretty good but they never change
the story, they only change the creatures and it just feels
like we've seen this a hundred times before. The directing
and photography is Nu Image standards, it looks good but
feels a bit like a direct to Sci-Fi TV movie. The acting is
bad with no name actors who we are introduced to shallowly.
We have the stereotype characters; escaped evil convict,
female scientist, secret government people etc etc etc. As
I said, it's all the same.
The funny thing is, after 20 minutes you know exactly what's
going to happen through the rest of the movie. This is
probably one of the most predictable movies of all time
and it might also be Nu Images worst horror flick ever. It
seems as if they spent a lot of time on this though and it
also seems as if they have high hopes on this becoming a
success. I can only hope that it fails miserably so that
they might rethink a little and use some more creative ideas
for their upcoming creature features because I don't know
how many more of these abysmal creature features I can take.
For crying out loud, the creature doesn't even look like a
mosquito and I doubt that a mansquito would look anything
like this thing.

Nothing impressive. Blood splatter and bloody bodies but
nothing memorable.

We get the average nu image soundtrack along with dance music
and piano music in the background.

Possibly the worst Nu Image flick ever. Trying desperately
to rip of The Fly, this movie succeeds only in one thing;
flopping. Uncreative and very predictable creature feature
that adds nothing new to the genre, skip this one.
