A couple of friends decide to have a weekend of fun out
in the wilderness so they borrow a motor home from one of
the friends dad and head out. It turns out that someone
is all ready waiting for them at the camp, and that
someone has a strong bloodlust. Soon enough the friends
start turning up dead one by one, who is this mysterious
killer and why is he killing them?

Motorhome Massacre was just recently released on DVD online
through their website so I naturally had to check this new
slasher flick out. The story involves a group of friends
who get slaughtered one by one by a masked killer while
camping in their motor home. Now, that does sound like a
pretty good plot for a slasher fan doesn't it?

Well, independent slasher flicks are rarely good and Motorhome
Massacre proves this once again, even if the trailer kicked
ass in my opinion, this movie has a whole lot of problems.
The characters are a bunch of unlike-able stereotypes (aren't
you so sick of white guys playing black guys by the way?).
The bond between the characters is very ludicrous since
these people don't even seem to like each other. The killer looks
stupid as hell and it's very predictable who the killer is.
I could go on and on about this movies flaws but I'd rather
not, that's just too depressing.

Motorhome Massacre does actually look pretty good technical
wise, the movie is shot in widescreen and looks professionally
shot. It could however use some make-up though with stronger
contrast and nicer colours but over-all they did a pretty
nice job. The acting is all right I guess but as I said
before, the characters are completely unlike-able so the
acting doesn't really get the chance to impress you.
For some reason they've also decided to throw some very
bad jokes into the movie which don't work at all and
instead, this just makes this movie feel even cheesier
and more low-budget than it did without the jokes.

This still wasn't a complete disaster, the story does have
some potential and some scenes are very well done, and I
mean VERY well done. The special effects are quite all right
and even if this isn't really a massacre in my opinion,
they still did a decent job with the gore considering the
very limited budget that these guys had. I appreciate the
fact that people are still trying to make good independent
slasher flicks out there even though the slasher hysteria
has been dead for many years but Motorhome Massacre is
still not a movie that I could possibly recommend. It's
too silly and too cheesy and it has way too many problems.

We get some very fake-looking intestines, one guy gets his
back opened up so that we get to see his spine (now this
was pretty well done actually) and finally we get a very
stupid arm dismemberment. Towards the ending it almost
felt as if the director had lost all hope of making a good
slasher flick so he decided to throw in some awful black
humour so that the actors could have a good time on the set.

The pop and rock music is actually pretty good and I'm
guessing that it was made by some independent band without
a record deal (I mean, it's not THAT good) so this was
a pretty nice surprise. The atmospheric score doesn't
work at all though.

Independent slasher flick which has the heart at the right
place but fails to become very good. Instead this feels
like a cheap and cheesy slasher with a poorly written
script (if one actually did exist). It's nice to see an
independent slasher flick every now and then but I'd
have to advice you to stay away from this.
