A middle-aged
man finds an invitation to a Halloween
party on the street and decides to go check it out.
What he doesn't know is that he's the only guest as
the other people at the party are there to kill him...
for art! But not everything is as it seems...

Every single review on the web for this movie has been
positive so far and I'm proud to be the first critic
to give it the review that it really deserves. Murder
Party is supposed to be a horror comedy, but it's not
funny or scary. The poor attempts at humour are probably
somewhat funny if you're stoned but for a sober man to
laugh at these jokes would be just sad. Watching a bunch
of drugged-up junkies partying for an hour is surprisingly
depressing and watching this movie was like watching
grass grow... in the desert... on the dryest season.
See, the first hour of the movie consists of nothing
else than dialogues and poor gags (I can just picture
myself people forcing themselves to laugh at the
screenings of this movie due to sympathy). The characters
are all obnoxious druggies who no one could care less
about, and the main victim is perhaps even worse - a
dorky middle-aged man with a cat as his best friend.
Seriously, how were we supposed to root for anyone in
this movie? Wanna know what the plot is?
This middle-aged man finds a random invitation to a
Halloween party on the street and decides to go since
he's a big fan of Halloween. When he arrives at the
party it doesn't take long before he gets tied up to
a chair, only to find out that a bunch of artists
are going to kill him to make art. Err... as the night
progresses the druggies start turning against each
other and the party soon gets way out of control as
one of the druggies goes on a killing spree. Oh did
I ruin it for you? I don't care, it ruined ninety
minutes of my life, so tough luck.
I can't believe sites like Variety and Bloody-Disgusting
gave this movie rave reviews as they usually have better
taste than this. This was just low to me. The gags were
inferior at best and the horror just wasn't there. The
gore didn't make up for much of it either as we mainly
got blood splatter. Still, some people loved this flick
(I don't know why though as I didn't see any redeeming
qualities about it) so if you're looking for a poor
attempt at making a British horror comedy in the US,
look no further. But if I were you, I would leave this
on the DVD shelf. I wish I had.

A melted face, a lot of blood splatter, an axe in the
head, a chainsaw in the head, etc. May sound gory but
it really wasn't very graphical.

Just as depressing as the movie itself.

Pathetic horror comedy with some of the lamest jokes
I've seen in a long time. I'd rather watch Bratz: The
Movie than to sit through this again - that's how dull
it was. Don't bother with this Murder Party as it's
anything but a party flick.
