A serial killer is killing off hookers and strippers
in Las Vegas. His grandfather was a German Nazi and
he looks up to him a lot. Blood. Nudity. Sex. Blood.
Yadda, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I can't even remember how long I've been wanting to
see this film now. I've heard so many bad things about
it but I've also heard that it's supposed to be really
fucked up and disturbing. Well, let me begin by saying
that I have to agree with the other critics on this one,
Murder-Set-Pieces is one of the shittiest movies ever
to be shot on 35mm. It's really truly abysmal and here
I was, expecting it to be really good. However, I will
not agree with the critics on the disturbance factor
since I never felt disgusted, offended or anything like
that while watching the movie. There's not really a
whole lot of gore, just a lot of blood splatter.
The movie is duller than "Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment"
and still nowhere near as disturbing. At least that one
had some credibility to it, this one has absolutely
nothing. There is absolutely no story at all, it's
basically just boobies, blood and some more boobies.
For some reason Nick Palumbo decided to try to disgust
us by killing a child but since the child is a very
bad actress I never really felt like that affected me
in any way. The acting overall is actually much worse
than I had expected it to be. The dialogue seems to
have been made up scene by scene.
I still have to give Nick Palumbo some credit though
because this is still a huge step up from his last
film, Nutbag, even though the two are basically the
same movie only that Murder-Set-Pieces clearly had
a higher budget. How Nick got the money to fund this
film is beyond me though. I can see how this might
disgust many people and it's obvious that the only
reason to why anyone would like to see this is in fact
just to get disgusted but if you're a hardcore horror
movie fan, most of you will all ready have seen much
worse. The sex scenes in the movie were basically
just hardcore German porno with some blood splatter
here and there, if they thought that would be shocking
they should try looking at Japanese porn, now that's
shocking for you! I will never be able to erase the
memory of when I saw a Jap porno where a chick puked
in another chick's mouth. Now that's disturbing!
Anyway, Murder-Set-Pieces is indeed a terrible film,
it's slow, it doesn't go anywhere and there is
absolutely nothing to catch your interest.
Gallons of blood splatter, a couple of skulls, some
slit throats, a dismembered head and a stab in the
stomach, not really as gory as I had thought that
it would be after reading all those reviews.
Lousy techno music and even worse metal music fills
this movie's score. The strings sound MIDI and you
really would expect a movie with this kind of a budget
to have a real orchestra do the soundtrack.
YAWN! Disturbing my ass! This was just a big snoozer
for the trained horror fan. I just don't see what all
the big fuzz was about. Go rent Gigli instead if
you want to see something which will haunt you for the
rest of your life.
