A young boy accidentally kills his mother which makes
his father snap and go crazy. A couple of years later,
the boy has grown up and is just getting ready to
leave for a nice vacation at his cabin by the ocean.
What they don't know is that his father is waiting
for him to take revenge on what happened many years ago.

Here's a cult favourite of mine. The Mutilator is an
entertaining and gory slasher flick and even though
the story might not be brilliant, it's still good
enough to keep you interested. The story revolves
around a couple of friends who go to a cabin in the
middle of nowhere for a nice vacation, but soon the
vacation turns into a nightmare when a mad serial
killer turns up and starts offing the friends one by
one. Even if this is a cult favourite of mine,
there are still a whole lot of things not to like
about the movie so here's a quick summary of what's
good and what's bad about the movie.
The good stuff: the movie is for most of the time
relatively fast-paced and the uncut version is simply
filled with gore. The story is not all that great
but strangely enough I actually found it pretty
realistic, I mean, these things could happen. The
killer is very creepy as he looks very demented and
disturbed and it is also a good thing that he doesn't
say one word through the entire movie. The acting is
also relatively good for a slasher flick.
The bad stuff: even if the movie is fast-paced for
most of the time, the first 45 minutes are incredibly
slow and if you've never heard about this movie
before watching it, there's a good chance you will
be pressing the stop button before it gets to the
good stuff. The lighting is all wrong and the night
scenes are way too dark so that it's nearly impossible
to see what's going on some times.
All in all, The Mutilator is one of those slashers
that every gore fan should see. The special effects
are awesome and even though it does have it weaknesses,
the movie is overall very entertaining so if you
have yet to see this slasher flick, go and get yourself
an uncut print now!

While the cut version isn't very gory, this uncut
version has everything I could possible have craved
for. We get slit throats, a guy gets mangled by a
chainsaw, we get a gory decapitation, a hayfork
through ones neck, a hook in the vagina (infamous
scene), a guy is horizontally split in half and a
whole lot more!

Considering that this was made in the 80s, I actually
see this soundtrack working today as well. The only
real 80s track plays in the opening credits, the
rest of the score is pretty solid and creepy.

A gory cult favourite which might not win any awards
for being the best slasher movie ever but at least
this one will keep you entertained. If you're looking
for a gory and brutal slasher, check this one out as
you will not want to miss this!
