The Hansett family just got a new neighbour, Jared,
and teenage girl Loren is certain that their
new neighbour is a werewolf. She starts spying
on him but doesn't seem to be able to collect
enough evidence to make anyone believe her. Will
she be able to prove that he's a werewolf before
he turns her into one?

These days I generally try to stay away from
werewolf films, just like with vampire films,
simply because they're usually really cheesy and
uninspired. Never Cry Wolf is both of those
things but it's also surprisingly entertaining.
This DTV horror flick proved to me that you can
still make entertaining werewolf movies as long
as you don't take it too seriously. Never Cry
Werewolf knows that it's not original and rather
than coming up with stupid twists on the concept,
it focuses on creating a good atmosphere, amping
up the pace and building up the characters. May
I say job well done?

Loren Hansett is a teenage girl who's become
increasingly interested in their new next door
neighbour, Jared. Why? Because she's almost
certain that he's a werewolf. She does a little
researching and soon enough she's figured out
everything about him, now the only trick is to
get other people to believe her, which is
obviously easier said than done. Since everyone
thinks that she's gone paranoid, Loren decides
to take matters into her own hands before anyone
else gets killed. What she doesn't know is that
Jared has a crush on her.

Now many of you may feel like Never Cry Werewolf
is a blatant rip-off of Fright Night because the
two movies are indeed very similar but the fact
of the matter is that it's almost impossible to
come up with a new great werewolf story, so why
not borrow a little from some classic flicks?
Like I said before, this movie never tries to
be original, it just wants to amuse you for an
hour and a half and it manages to do just that.
In the end, Never Cry Werewolf is a surprisingly
entertaining horror film and I strongly recommend
it for werewolf fans. Don't expect anything
memorable but it will entertain you for an hour
and a half and that's all that you can really
demand from a film if you ask me.

We get a slit throat, some guts, an impalement
and some blood splatter.

Didn't really listen since it's a Sci-Fi channel
original - and you know the drill by now.

Surprisingly entertaining werewolf flick that
has got a steady pace, some decent actors and
an unoriginal storyline that still manages to
keep your interest. Granted, it's rather forgettable
but it's certainly worth checking out.
