A schizoid maniac stalks and terrorizes a family.
The boy in the family seems to be the only one who
notices this strange man but since he's infamous
for pulling scary pranks on people, no one really
believes him. Well, this time it was no prank and
they're about to pay for not believing.

A couple of slashers that were made in the late
70s and early 80s tried to get us inside the mind
of a serial killer rather than just watch people
getting killed. Nightmares In A Damaged Brain is
one of those movies. It's brutal, it's gory, it's
demented, and it's definitely not for everyone.
This has over the latest years become a cult classic
but I for one have to disagree with the rest of
the horror fans on this one. I think that the movie
is sloppily put together, especially the first part
of the movie. The story is pretty ludicrous and the
killer doesn't really feel believable. While movies
like "Maniac" focused a bit too much on the
psychopath, this one doesn't focus enough
on the killer. We don't get to know him well enough
to really feel like we are inside his head.

The movie is over-all relatively slow. It does have
its creepy moments and it's filled with gore but
it still fails to entertain. Now, I've seen this
movie two times, the first time was a couple of
years ago and the version that I saw was heavily
cut and this second time I saw it uncut. Well,
the first time I saw it I wasn't impressed at all,
in fact I really disliked the movie which just
proves that without the gore this movie doesn't
really have a lot to offer.

This might be a cult classic for many horror fans
but for me this will be collecting dust on my DVD
shelf for many years to come. This is not the
kind of movie that you can watch over and over
again without getting tired of it. I've seen it
twice and I'm pretty sure that I will never watch
it again. This is still a movie that every horror
fan should have seen because it is gory and it
is different, it's just not that good.

We get a decapitation, a slit throat, some
hammer beatings in the back, an axe in the
head and more.

The score tries to create a good atmosphere but
for most of the time it fails pretty badly.

A movie that every horror fan should have seen
due to the gore factor and due to the fact that
it is a pretty demented movie. However, the movie
fails to entertain and it's hard to stay interested
in the weak story.
