Nite Tales
consists of two horror tales; Karma and
Storm. Karma is about a group of bank robbers who are
about to realize what the saying "what comes around
goes around" means. Storm is about a group of friends
who play a game of bloody Mary which has
fatal consequences.

From the director of the DTV slasher flick "7eventy
5ive" and the upcoming horror movie "Chain Letter"
(which looks AWFUL by the way) comes Nite Tales - the
first horror movie to ever bring you two horror tales
in one movie - well not really but this is what the
movies' "crypt keeper" claims. While there are several
other horror anthologies out there with just two
stories in them, we usually get 3 or more. This could
have been beneficial for Nite Tales - a movie so
boring that it will definitely make you want to go
to bed. Heck, I fell asleep twice trying to suffer
my way through the damn thing. No wonder that it's
called Nite Tales, it sure is a bitch of a sleeping pill.
Nite Tales opens with a host introducing the movies
and once he's done talking for a while, the first
movie begins; Karma. My first thought was "man, this
could actually be good". Why? Because the movie looks
impeccable for a DTV production - it looks way more
expensive than it actually was. Well, that's the one
and only positive thing I have to say. You know,
judging by the box-art I knew that this was going to
be an urban horror movie (ugh) and naturally Karma
starts out with four men robbing a bank. Everything
goes well except one of them gets shot. Anyhoo, their
car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and they seek
shelter in a house where a bunch of old people live,
hoping that they will have a car that they can steal.
The old folks are rather strange and, spoilers ahead
until next segment, turn out to be cannibals. How is
this karma? That's just ridiculous. What a pointless
story. I swear, this was just pathetic.
Moving on, story number two begins right away without
any introduction from the host. The movie is simply
titled "Storm". Why? Probably because there are all
ready so many horror movies called "Bloody Mary".
A group of friends are hanging out during a storm and
decide to play a game of bloody Mary. When they're
done, a man dressed as a clown knocks on the door
and this is where the terror begins. This story was
just annoying as hell. It was obvious who the killer
was and still they tried to turn it into some murder
mystery game a la Cluedo where everyone is blaming
everyone. This was complete nonsense and the twist
ending was NOT a twist.
Nite Tales really is incompetent in most areas other
than the directing and the technical aspects. The
script is just beyond horrible, the acting is shockingly
bad (even for teen-actors in a DTV horror flick) and
there is just nothing exciting about it at all. It
gets a point for being nice to look at but that's all.

Some blood here and there, a slit throat, some flesh
munching, nothing too graphical.

Mainly hip-hop beats. Pretty good but not my kind of
music and not very suitable in a horror film.

May or may not please its target audience but it
certainly didn't please me. Nite Tales is such a dull
film that I even started cleaning up around me because
I was so bored - and I hate cleaning. Don't bother.
