The weird phone calls have started again and this
time a reporter and two friends have decided to
get to the bottom of the case. Is there any way
to stop the curse of the phone calls or are you
destined to die after having received one? As the
plot thickens, the three friends find themselves
in a story so complex that they wish they had
never started investigating.

I didn't like the first movie and the sequel brings
absolutely nothing new to the story. The only
difference is that this time there is less
horror and more investigating. That is not
necessarily a good thing though. The movie that
feels, just like the first one, way too long is
not only slow but at the same time it actually
goes against lots of things that happened in the
first movie. I thought it was pretty obvious when
I first heard about this sequel that you couldn't
go much further with the story and as you can
see, I was right.

This time Takashi Miike did not do the directing,
in fact, he wasn't involved at all. A rookie
director has directed this and apparently he
thought it was a good idea to rip off a few other
successful movies as the first one apparently
wasn't unoriginal enough. You will recognize
numerous of scenes from movies like the grudge
and the ring here, we even have the famous
scene where the ghost girl crawls down the stairs
thrown into this mess. Unbelievable. The acting
is also worse than in the first film. The first
one had big name actors in it, this one didn't
and they all felt pretty stiff to me. Not one
single scream felt real.

The reason why the first movie was even
bearable was due to the fact that it gave you
a couple of scares here and there, and while
they tried to scare us a couple of times in this
sequel as well, they fail miserably and the
scares come out as rather pathetic and tame.
I went in expecting a bad horror flick, and
after the first twenty minutes had passed I was
convinced that I had been mistaking and that
this was actually a much better movie than the
first one. But after another twenty minutes
this movie had turned into an incomprehensible
mess so if you're going to watch this movie,
I really hope you liked the first one more
than I did because otherwise there's no way
you're going to enjoy this knock-off.

We get a gory burnt face, a knife stabbing
scene and some minor gore not worth mentioning.

I'm surprised to see that they didn't even
change the ring tone for the ghostly calls,
basically the entire soundtrack is a copy of
the first movie.

As One Missed Call 2 was a pretty big success
as well I'm hoping that we won't have to see
a third movie in the makings. This knock-off
sequel brought nothing new to the story, it
was basically the same movie but with more
cheap rip-offs and less scares. Only for the
ones who really enjoyed the first one.
