Hank and his wife
broke up a while ago but Hank
refuses to let her go and starts stalking her. He
works as a cop and one day when his boss gets sick
of his stalking he decides to put him on a case
about a missing girl. He finds the girl one night
at a rave and follows her, unsuspectingly he walks
right into a vampire orgy and gets bitten by the
master vampire. No one believes his story and now
the only person he has left to turn to is his wife.

Recent vampire horror flicks that went DTV have
been awful. Especially the ones involving killer
bats and by the looks of the cover you get the
feeling that this is just like the rest of them.
If you haven't seen the DVD sleeve yet it shows
a big vampire bat with sharp teeth and a bunch of
smaller bats flying behind it. It looks pretty
cool but it really looks like a Bats rip-off.
Well, it isn't. We actually don't get to see one
single bat in this one. The marketing for this
flick is just as bogus as the marketing for the
"werewolf" horror flick Romasanta in which we
don't get to see one single werewolf.
However, Out For Blood is actually not as bad as
one might think. The concept has been done many
times before, someone gets bitten by a vampire
after visiting a rave and then we get to follow
them as they transform into a vampire. But this
one has been done more tastefully and with a more
complex plot than previous ones. The movie does
have some very obvious twists that we just knew
right from the start would happen but it doesn't
just focus on bitchy vampires, it takes the idea
from the zombie flick "Shadows Of the Dead" and
turns it into a vampire flick but in a much more
entertaining way.
The acting is a mixed bag. Kevin Dillon is pretty
solid but Vanessa Angel, playing is ex-wife is not
known to give out excellent performances and that
does not change with this movie. After having
starred in the hit comedy Kingpin where she was
actually really good she started starring in low
budget flicks like Sabretooth, Puppet Master vs.
Demonic Toys and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2!
I think that she might be a terrific actress once
utilized enough but she was under utilized and
didn't seem to be very interested in her part and
that makes her flat character flop.
Vampires: Out For Blood is not just another vampire
DTV flick. This one deserves some credit as it has
an interesting and entertaining story and if you're
into vampire movies (actually, even if you're not)
I think you should give this one a try, you might
just find yourself enjoying it.

We get a severed head, a tongue bit out of ones
mouth and some gory neck bites.

A lot of techno and rave music accompanied by
some softer rock music and in the end it works
pretty well I have to say.

If you're renting this thinking that it's a movie
about evil killer bats, you're wrong. It does not
include any bats, no matter what the cover might
imply. However, it is a pretty good vampire flick
and I suggest you check it out, it's actually got
some good ideas this one.
