Someone masked as a clown is killing off the
girls at a phone sex company and leaves no clues
behind for the police. With nothing to go on,
the police find themselves in a difficult
situation as the poor girls are dropping like
flies. Who is this killer? And why is he killing
off all the attractive girls?

Finally! A slasher flick with a completely new
concept. I mean, a masked killer killing off
beautiful girls at a phone sex company? How
ingenious is that? I mean, I gave it credit
for just being original so when it turned out
to actually be quite the entertaining slasher
flick as well I was thrilled. However, Out Of
The Dark has a couple of serious problems.

The first 40-50 minutes of the movie are very
entertaining and we get more and more interested
in finding out who the killer is and we actually
also start to root for the girls. Sadly, it
quickly goes off track after 50 minutes and the
characters that we've actually rooted for just
disappear from the movie. We get a great scene
where the owner of the phone sex company blames
our hero cop for one of the murders but that
tension just vanishes out into nothing while
they could've done so much more with that.

Instead, the last 40 minutes or so focus on two
of the most unlikable characters in the movie
and the slasher part of the movie kind of dies
out. If only they would've stuck with the great
story that they had going for them for another
30 minutes or so, I would have been happy but
the ending was just terrible. It was extremely
dull and the end twist was just ridiculous.

Out Of The Dark is still a very good movie though
and the acting is over-all pretty good. The
directing isn't anything special but come on,
if you like slashers you just have to watch this,
if not for the attractive girls but for the
incredibly original plot. Skip the last 30
minutes and you have a great movie on your hands.

Not very gory. We get a shovel in the head, a
mutilated body and one gets shot in the stomach
with a shotgun.

Take your typical 80s slasher score and throw in
some clown music and you have the soundtrack for
Out Of The Dark. Nothing special here.

Out Of The Dark should have been so much better
than it actually was. While the first 50 minutes
are great and make this movie a must for any
slasher fan, the last 30-40 minutes go off track
and completely destroys your interest in the
killers identity so skip the last 30-40 minutes
and you are in for one hell of a time.
