Putri works as a DJ in a night club and is having the
time of her life until one day when her father dies.
She hasn't been in contact with her father since she
was a little girl so she really couldn't care less,
that is until she starts having ghostly visions of a
Pocong everywhere she goes.

After two outstanding horror films it's only natural
that this franchise is starting to wear out. This time
it's the scriptwriter for the first two movies that
has taken it on himself to direct the third movie but
just because you know how to write a good script it
doesn't mean that you know how to direct. The first
Pocong movie (aka Shrouded) was a tale of revenge and
evoked a lot of emotions and was even banned in its
native country, the second Pocong movie (aka Shrouded 2)
was all about the terror and really scared the hell
out of me but this? Well this just wasn't anything
special at all. Heck, the Pocong gets less on-screen
time than other random ghosts.

For some reason, most Indonesian teen horror flicks
have a long scene in a night club at some point and
I guess Monty Tiwa thought that it would be a good idea
to base an entire movie on the club life. Unfortunately
it doesn't work all that well as the music is surprisingly
bad (up until this point I've been very impressed by
the modern sounds of Indonesian clubs portrayed in
horror flicks) and Putri doesn't seem like a very
professional dj at all. She walks in through the front
door, she sits by the bar drinking tequila shots and
she fools around with her boss' husband. In fact, Putri
isn't even a likeable character and it's really not
that interesting to watch her walk around looking scared.

Monty has obviously tried to capture the essence of
Pocong 2 and really wants to scare the hell out of his
audience but he fails miserably at doing so. Out of all
the scares in the entire movie, only one scare scene
will even make you twitch in you chair. I'm not really
sure why he decided to take the teen approach with this
movie either since the teen horror genre in Indonesia
is slowly dying while horror flicks that stand out make
good money at the local box-office. God knows how sick
I am of Indonesian teen horror flicks anyway, wannabe
models walking around looking pretty, focusing more on
their appearances than on their acting. I'm just over
it. You know, Pocong 3 has a decent concept though and
I'm sure that Rudi Soedjarwo would have been able to
make a great movie out of this script, I really think
that it's the directing and editing which makes the
movie feel so mediocre.

Ultimately, this didn't impress me. Pocong and Pocong 2
are unarguably the two best Indonesian horror films that
have come out of the Indonesian horror boom that's
currently going on and it's just a shame to see this
franchise stoop to such a mediocre level. There are
very few scenes in where the Pocong appears and there
are way too many long-haired ghost girls in this and
I didn't really like the whole black magic part of it
either. Ludicrous and mediocre, don't bother.

No.

Awful tech trance music which feels outdated and isn't
very catchy at all. Would I dance to this? Not even if
I was pumped on ecstasy.

Pocong 3 is most likely the end for this franchise as
it's mediocre and rather dull and really pales in
comparison to the first two movies. If they were to
make a fourth movie, I truly hope that they bring Rudi
Soedjarwo back - but on the other hand Rudi has a
similarly themed horror flick out called "40 Hari
Bangkitnya Pocong" which is supposed to be good so
maybe that's the Pocong 3 that we really wanted.
