In 1984 a group
of friends broke into an abandoned
hotel only to be found dead the next day. Now,
a couple of students have decided to find out
the truth about the hotel and to see whether or
not it really is haunted. Well, they're about
to find out that it's not just haunted, it's
cursed and they're next on the chopping block.

A warning bell usually goes off for me when I see
that Udo Kier is in a movie. Now, I know that
he's a cult icon and all but he's been in some
real stinkers recently such as Halloween, Fall
Down Dead and FearDotCom. Well, guess what? He's
got another stinker to add to his résumé. Pray
For Morning looked somewhat okay judging by the
trailer due to decent production values and an
okay story-line. I mean, a horror flick set in an
abandoned hotel of some sort is always a good
idea. Unfortunately the execution usually sucks
(in lack of better words) and we end up with
films like Death Tunnel and Return To House On
Haunted Hill but every once in a while we get a
movie like Session 9. Well let me tell you
something, Pray For Morning is no Session 9.
The story revolves around a group of teens (very
original, ey?) who decide to go to an abandoned
hotel after a party (again, very original).
Now I had gotten the idea that this would be a
slasher flick but it's not, it's a haunted house
movie with the lamest ghost villain I've seen
in a long time. It's basically just Udo Kier
dressed up. Oooh, scary. Anyway so the ghost
villain has this bright aura around him so
every time a person is about to die we get to see
this really bright light. Why? I've got no idea.
Pray For Morning is filled with things that don't
make any sense, for example, it turns out that
one of the teens' brother was in fact one of the
victims from the 80's. Now why the hell would
she go into the hotel knowing what she knows?
There are lots of these flaws that don't make
any sense to be found in here but I can't really
be bothered going into them. The acting is below
average and Jessica Stroup (who's becoming
increasingly popular) gives us, surprisingly
enough, the worst performance of them all.
When it comes to the technical aspect of the movie,
it looks like it had a decent production budget.
Sure, it's obvious that it's a low-budget movie
but it looks better than most DTV horror flicks.
The movie was shot back in 2006 and hasn't found
distribution until now and I can assure you that
it's not due to the production values. In the
end, Pray For Morning has some decent moments
and for what it's worth, it is watchable, it's
just not very good and I wouldn't recommend it.
If it's on TV you may want to give it a chance,
just don't expect too much from it.

A severed arm, some broken bones, some minor
blood splatter. Not a lot here actually.

I didn't mind the constant soundtrack but it
didn't do much for me either. Certainly failed
to create a good atmosphere.

Pray For Morning isn't an awful horror flick but
it's certainly nothing I will be watching again
and by the time I wake up tomorrow I'll probably
have forgotten all about it. It's a below average
ghost story and not a very original one at that
either so you may want to skip this one.
