After the cremation furnace stopped working, the
employees at a local funeral home decide to make some
extra money by selling the organs from the bodies on
the black market. Molly Sue realizes that something
is wrong and when she finds out that her son was one
of the victims, she goes to a witch who lives in the
forest to crave vengeance on the ones who did this.
It doesn't take long before Pumpkinhead is reborn to
kill those who committed these horrible crimes.

Before I start bashing this movie, I have a small
confession to make. I have not seen either of the
previous two Pumpkinhead movies, I've just never
gotten around to it. So when the movie started I was
a bit baffled as to what was going on since this
apparently takes place twenty years after the first
movie, ignoring the sequel.

Either way, the story, which feels very reminiscent
of an incident that occurred at a crematory in the Tri
State area a couple of years ago, revolves around a
doctor and his employees who sell organs from their
dead patients on the black market. The bodies are soon
discovered however and when Molly Sue's dead son shows
up as one of the victims, she decides to take matters
into her own hands. She tracks down an old witch who
lives in the forest to crave vengeance, and vengeance
she will get. Before you know it, Pumpkinhead shows
up and starts killing the employees at the funeral home.

I'm not really sure what inspired someone to make a
sequel to this long forgotten cult horror flick, it
seemed like a bad idea all along if you ask me. But,
since Jake West (Evil Aliens) was helmed to direct it,
I thought it might be somewhat entertaining anyway.
And while it could have been much worse, Pumpkinhead:
Ashes To Ashes really truly felt like it belonged on
the Sci-Fi channel. It looks cheap, the CGI-effects
are horrible, there is no atmosphere at all and the
story is just horrible.

Shot in Romania for budget reasons, this sequel felt
like one of those bad DTV horror sequels that came out
in the early 90s. The entire thing reeks of cheapness
and is utterly cheesy with bad dialogues and plot holes
a plenty. Furthermore, seeing as how most teens (who
I'm guessing are the main crowd for this movie) probably
haven't seen the original movie, I feel as if they
could have explained a bit more in the beginning.
Eventually, they do explain everything (and I have to
say, the original looks pretty entertaining), but by
that time, it's too late and we've all ready lost
interest in the ludicrous plot.

The acting is overall below average, and Lance Henriksen's
short appearances felt unnecessary and out of place.
I guess they had to involve him in some way though
since they had all ready dragged him down to Romania
to shoot the fourth movie. It seems like he doesn't
even read scripts before jumping into projects these
days since he's in most of the latest Sci-Fi channel
originals. Anyhow, Jake West fails to impress this
time and disappoints me with very average directing.

Overall I have to say that, even though I haven't seen
the previous two movies, this was probably a very
unnecessary and unwanted sequel. It felt like a cheap
rush job and I'm just happy that it didn't get to see
a theatrical release. This sure did belong premiering
on the Sci-Fi channel.

We get some organs removed, a slit throat, an
impalement and some more. Nothing special.

The church music was surprisingly effective, even if
quite tacky. For its intents and purposes, it works.

Unnecessary sequel which felt like a cheap rush job.
The story was poorly written, the acting was below
average and the entire thing reeked of low budget.
I'm not getting my hopes up for the next sequel. It
could have been a whole lot worse but I suggest you
skip this one.
