Whenever Italy spits out a new horror flick I always
get thrilled so when I received this in the mail it
took me approximately 30 seconds before I was sitting
in front of my TV watching the opening titles for
Red Riding Hood. When I shut the TV off I was still
thrilled, Red Riding Hood turned out just they way
I wanted it to, absolutely outstanding! The movie
is a mixture between Misery, American Psycho 2 and
the 70's slasher Alice Sweet Alice and it manages
to take the best things out of these three and puts
it together so brilliantly and flawlessly that it
makes one wonder why Italy hasn't been producing
more horror flicks over the last couple of years,
it's obvious that they still haven't lost their
great sense of making horror flicks.
Jenny has an imaginary friend called George who
she goes out and kills criminals together with every
night. Now, it's pretty obvious through the entire
movie that George is only in her imagination but
on the other hand, I think it was supposed to be
that way. It's hard to describe this movie, it
really is because there's no way that I can write
in words how good the movie is. I mean, sure, most
of you will probably only consider this to be an
average film but this is just the kind of movies
that made me a horror fan. It's got a clever story,
a clever serial killer, a torturous sub story that
plays out through the entire movie and perhaps
most importantly, it's simply filled with gore.
I'm actually surprised that it got an R rating as
the MPAA would surely have made this NC-17 if it
had went to theatres, just to piss people of (yeah,
I'm not a big fan of the MPAA, they suck).
The photography is outstanding and looks brilliant
and the young girl playing Jenny is a terrific
actress and even though she's evil, yes, this
girl is not psychotic, she's pure evil, you still
can't help but to like her, just like you did in
American Psycho 2. The sub story which plays like
Stephen Kings Misery is actually even more gut
wrenching than Misery itself as this girl really
puts her victim through the most horrible pains
that one can imagine, playing on her victims
allergies and weaknesses. I'm simply stunned.
The only real flaw that it has is the ending which
is pathetic and makes very little sense. If it
weren't for the ending, this would have been
close to perfection!

I actually wrote almost an entire page of notes
on the gore while I watched the movie so I won't
reveal all the good stuff but we get gory nail gun
murders, dismembered heads, a guy gets his legs
chopped off, one gets the hand cut off and maybe
the least gory murder but still the most effective
one has to be when a woman gets impaled by a big
kitchen knife, that scene is unforgettable.

THIS is what I want! Slick violin music, piano
music, opera and musicals, pop music. This has
it all. Just like in the good old days. Terrific
soundtrack for a terrific movie.

I have a soft spot for Italian horror flicks but
this one took the price. It was simply amazing.
I know that most of you might argue with me on
this since it's not a movie for everyone but my
job is to express MY opinions about movies and
my opinion is that this horror flick is one
movie that you simply have to see!
