A group of strangers are sharing a ride to a rave.
Unfortunately they soon find themselves stuck at
a sleazy motel in the middle of nowhere with an
angry drug dealer after them. It doesn't take
long before the drug dealer becomes their least
concern since there is something in the air, killing
them off one by one. What exactly is it that is
killing them off - what is the reeker?.

What an odd experience this was. Reeker might be
"just another slasher" if you will, but this one's
got something special about it. Actually, it's
got a lot special about it. The characters aren't
stereotypical at all which was very positive to
see, even though most of them are dislikeable. The
killer isn't some psychopath in a cheap Halloween
mask and things that usually don't happen in
horror movies do which gives the movie some
credibility - and treats the viewer with a couple
of very tasteful gags.

Heading into this movie I was a bit sceptical.
I mean, it's a movie about killer air - or so
I thought. Anyway, forty minutes into the movie
I wasn't very impressed as not a lot had happened
(even though the opening scene is brilliant).
Luckily it all felt worth while when the story
actually kicked in and let me tell you, there are
some brilliant twists in here as well to make
things even more interesting.

This was a very needed "fresh breeze" in the
slasher genre and it's sad to see this going
DTV while movies like "The Fog" and "When A
Stranger Calls" get theatrical releases (both
of them felt like TV-movies if you ask me). It
might not be a gore-fest, and it does have some
minor flaws but Reeker is ultimately a very
entertaining slasher flick, so don't miss this
one, it really is a brilliant addition to the
horror genre.

While I had hoped for more, we still get a
bloody half face (ehmm don't know how to explain
that correctly), a mutilated dog (best damn animal
gore I've ever seen), an arm dismemberment,
a drill in the stomach, a slit throat and more.

The fact that each scene has very suitable
music was funny but nothing more than that.
Maybe they should have been just a little more
serious with the score.

A fun and entertaining addition to the horror
genre which brings slasher movies to a new
level. It might be slow in the beginning but
it's ultimately definitely worth the ride so
don't miss this one!
