A group of
people who all happen to be at a small
diner in the middle of Death Valley at the same
time get trapped between life and death when a
gas pump explodes. As if that wasn't bad enough,
they soon realize that they have a smelly serial
killer after them, doing anything he can to keep
them from returning back to life.

The first Reeker was really a surprise hit. It
was a very entertaining indie production that
ended up getting released theatrically in several
countries where it performed quite well. It would
have done decent money at the US box-office as
well but unfortunately it was dumped straight to
DVD. Still, since it was such an international
success, a sequel was inevitable and I think most
of us horror fans were quite happy about that. At
least I was. So now it's finally here, the long
awaited sequel, was it worth the wait? Well, you'll
find out soon enough.
Reeker 2 is a prequel to Reeker and shows us how
the reeker came to be... in a very short opening
sequence. Then it's basically a rehash of the
first movie - people get trapped between life and
death while the reeker starts killing them off
one by one in gory manors. Now this was all pretty
amusing but not quite as rewarding as the first
time we saw it. Not only are the characters less
likeable this time but the ending is also a waste
of space - making the movie feel somewhat unnecessary.
I mean, it defeats the purpose of this being a
prequel. Anyway, it's still a pretty decent flick
and I wouldn't mind a Reeker 3 either. I think
this franchise has the potential to be the Final
Destination of DTV flicks.
Once again the movie looks much better than most
DTV movies and it's no surprise that it's all
ready gotten theatrical release dates in some
countries. While the characters may not be all
that great, the actors do a stellar job. You know,
if you're heading into a movie like Reeker 2,
you can't expect originality, all you can expect
is to have one hell of a time and it sure as hell
kept me entertained through and through. Fans of
the first movie will not go disappointed and
I'm looking forward to see what Dave Payne has
in store for us next. Definitely worth checking
out even if it's not the most original horror
flick out there.

We get a leg chopped off, body parts, impalements
and a whole lot more. Very gory indeed.

Decent score, nothing out of the ordinary.

Just like its predecessor, Reeker 2 was an
extremely entertaining and gory ride and one of
the more enjoyable horror flicks of 2008. The
thing that ruined it for me was that it was too
much like the first flick and had a miserable
ending. Other than that this was a perfect time
killer so check this one out.
